Just a quick update. Went and got my truck. They "couldn't find anything wrong with it." Yeah. They changed out some distributor module that Billy McAllister was having issues with on his truck when it was doing the same thing, we'll see what happens. Didn't have any issues on the way home (other than the squeaking, which I need to get taken care of very soon), but then again, it never does. We'll see what happens when I try to go to work tonight.
Got my cell phone back. The battery had died, so I didn't get to see how many missed calls I had, and there were only two messages, one of which was me, trying to find my phone.

Cover me in ecstasy
Guess I'm in a posting mood today. I have an hour, maybe two, before I have to spring into action and start getting some errands taken care of - deposit my paycheck, drop off rent, purchase a bird bath for Bam and Greg, go do some clothes shopping at the Outlet Mall, courtesy of the gift card Mom got me, and I think that's all? Oh! I also have to drop by Mom's, grab my cell phone and get some food out of the fridge that expires today. My phone's been missing for a few days now, it was in Janelle's car. Turns out it fell out as I was getting in. Or out. Whatever. It's funny, 'cause there's going to be about five missed calls from the apartment, a few from the house, a few from Rose, and probably a bunch from Mom.
The thing that complicates all of this, and prevented me from doing any of it yesterday is that my truck's in the shop again, for the same old issue. It's starting to get really, really annoying. I don't know how this guy managed to get Bill Mann to give him the SMAC contract, but he really, really doesn't deserve it. I definitely won't be going to him for any of my mechanical needs, once this thing is done, which are coming up - I need a new fanbelt, probably could use an oil change... good stuff.
So yeah. The thing that complicates this... wait, did that. The other thing that complicates this is that I have to pick Mom up at 2:30 to take her from one of her jobs to the other. I think she might be dropping me of at the apartment instead? Something like that. Either way, I'll be leaving at noon, or when Femaledwarf hits 52 (41k xp to go!), but not whichever comes first. I'm not sure.
So, New Year's is coming up. To be frank, Christmas wasn't that great this year. I've already done my disclaimer on bitching about it, and I'd like to just reference it and say it holds here as well. Hell, let's just have it as my standard disclaimer to every post I've ever made in which I bitched about things are, in the grand scheme of things, relatively minor (Note: everything I've ever really bitched about). I don't think New Year's is going to be any better. Well, it won't be worse, but it won't be good at all, because it's going to be a normal work day. We go on break at midnight, which means I'll probably have to deal with a bunch of co-workers being all "Happy New Year's!" I hate that. Well, I don't hate that. I hate random people wishing me a happy New Year's. I guess it's just one of those little idiosyncratic things about me, like how I hate salespeople coming up to me and asking me if I need any assistance in a store. It's polite, it's a nice way of showing compassion for your fellow human beings, and it drives me nuts. Now, I love being wished a happy New Year's by important people.
But I'm going to reminisce about past Christmas/New Year's, and why they sucked. I mean, I don't automatically assume it's going to suck, but I don't shy away from the reality of the situation.

Blow kisses at me, 'cause I'm a lil' cutie
So I forgot to mention in my dream last time one other thing that was very prominent. There was very much a sense of Carpè Diem, because something was limiting our time together. I wasn't sure if the authorities were coming for her, or we were both about to die or something, but we were taking advantage of the moment, because it was all we had.
So I went and checked out that cell phone that they sent Mom for me. It looked basically like our old new phones, but with a black color scheme with gray highlights. Definitely a better model. I played around with it for a bit, but there wasn't a place to insert my SIM card, which made me a little suspicious. I started it up and looked through the phone, it had a lot of information on it - full phonebook, previous calls, messages, that kind of thing. I was really confused at that point - it even let me dial out. So, there's clearly something weird going on, I think Mom's going to call the phone company and see if they know what the hell is going on, because I'm not entirely convinced they do.

Just another day to live
Had a weird dream last night.
I was Captain Malcolm Reynolds, of the Firefly-class ship Serenity.
Yeah.
Sapphron was also in it, the psycho con-artist chick. We were being close. Making out a lot. Lying down, spooning, watching the sun set. Standing there, hugging.
I don't know.
I think I was going to post something about work as well, but nothing I can remember really seems to warrant a post.
Oh! So Mom told me the other day that they (the phone people) had finally sent me a new battery for my phone, after I played phone tag with them for several days, in which they kept telling me they were about to send it out.
They never did.
So Mom opens the battery they finally sent me (six (?) months later), and it's a brand new phone. Gray and black, very pretty, possibly a camera phone - the box claims as such, but there's no instruction manual, and we're not confident that the box matches the phone. So, we'll see. Mom's got it charging right now, I'll stop by after work tomorrow to pick it up and check it out.
Three more shifts 'til the hockey game.

Oh no, not ever
Just a quick note. My cell phone battery died earlier today. I don't mean it used up all of its stored charge, I mean it spontaneously - well, Rose was holding it at the time - became unable to power my phone, and is defying any attempts to recharge it. Thus, I've been completely unreachable by phone since about 2:30 this afternoon. You can always try calling David or Rose, chances are, they can give me a message. I'll be getting a new battery as soon as possible - I've got 5-C until Saturday, which, when coupled with my sleeping habit's further deterioration, means that I won't have a lot of spare time in the middle of the day 'til next week. After work is another matter, but I don't know where I could get a cell phone battery at 4 am. Well, maybe Wal-Mart, but I don't feel like driving all the way out there right now, especially if Mindy's not even going to be there.
And yes, those of you who've been thinking one thing this whole time, I'm quite aware how few people ever call me or need to get a hold of me. But it gives me something to do.

Oh, yeah
I got my new phone working. Mom went and got a new sim card while I was pulling a 13 hour double, open to 7-ish. It's pretty cool, though I did lose all of my phone numbers, which is fairly annoying. The only people whose number I have are those I remember off the top of my head, and those I've seen in the last day or two.

Light up the night when our arms reunite, Sei carina
So I'm about to go and open for the first time by myself. Erica's my carhop, which is good. I got Mark's keys, but not my own code yet, so I have to use Javi's. Ray had me go up there last night and practice opening the safe. It sounds like they're going to start have me run shifts (completely) next week.
Scary stuff.
I'll try to post the rest of the Tuesday night stuff, along with what happaned yesterday (all about Lilie, of course, even though we're most likely just friends. Which is fine).
Oh, and my phone's out right now (broken SIM card, so if I don't answer or call you back, that's why.
Not like anyone calls me anyway, but just in case they do *and* happen to read this.
Right.

Long time followers of my personal life will not be suprised at the outcome of my evening with Katie
It didn't happen. Nope.
So I came home from work, after talking with Rose on the drive home. Everything's going fine so far. I shower, do the dishes, clean up, clean out my truck (not in this order, of course), and get ready to leave. I even burn two new CDs; one is a dance mix, and the other is a compilation of the all the Reel Big Fish, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and Squirrel Nut Zippers songs I have so far, with Sing Sing Sing and You're the Boss thrown in for good measure.
I go to start my truck... it over-revs, and when I take the key out, it keeps trying to start. This is seriously bad (it's raining fairly heavily at this pint, as well). I call Jerry, and he tells me it's a short in the starter, and to disconnect the battery cable from the terminal. I do so, and it stops. He then tells me to get underneath the engine and (I'm not kidding at all here) hit the starter with a hammer. I do so, to no avail. I had the cell phone with me a little under the truck, as I was trying to find the starter and he was helping me. It got a little wet, but I didn't think anything of it. I, on the other hand, got *very* wet. My shirt and shorts were just soaked.
I finally called Rose to let her know what was going on. I also let her know that Janelle wouldn't let me borrow her car, and that Mom wouldn't be home for a while, and probably wouldn't let me borrow her car either. She said she'd start looking for another ride. I resumed banging on the starter; no effect.
Rose and I talked a little later; Zack Scofield said he'd give them a ride, but it would cause some delays. It was really funny - Katie, upon learning that Zack was going to be their ride, wasn't sure if she wanted to go. She was like, "Well, I'm really tired, I think I'm just going to go back to my house then." (I finally got the story out of Rose as well - apparently, Katie asked them if I was going to be driving back here, then back to San Antonio, or what while they were at the concert, and Rose told her that she was fairly sure I'd be remaining in San Antonio; Katie then asked if Rose thought I'd like some company. Rose was like, I'm fairly sure he would. We were all four going to pile into my cab for the rides, and Katie and I were going to hang out in SA during the concert. This is the second time we were going to hang out, just the two of us, at her instigation, that's been cancelled). So in a weird, preverse way, that makes me feel better - she didn't just want to go to San Antonio and hang out, she wanted to hang out with me. Damn. Zack, upon hearing Katie wasn't going to go, was like, "Well, what am I going to do, then?" It was a funny little moment, and I think Rose got Katie to go anyway to help salvage the situatin. I'll have to talk to Rose when she gets back.
That was the final conversation with Rose. I really hope they made it to the concert and had a great time. I feel really bad that I wasn't able to take them - it was so very frustrating, having problems AT THAT MOMENT, with them all depending on me and stuff. I think Jerry's coming over tomorrow to fix it or something; I don't know. Janelle's going to give me a ride to work, and I don't know how I'm getting home. We'll see.
But our story doesn't end there. Oh, no. So my phone's acting a little weird; I assume it's due to the water exposure, and let it dry out. I was (and still am) very depressed, so I sat out on the driveway in the rain. I eventually got up and moved to the chair in the garage when I realized Mom would be home soon, and wouldn't be too happy to find me sitting there in the rain. I sat there for a while, then changed into some dry clothes and went to bed (it was like... 6:30 or so at this point). I finally got to sleep when my mom came into the room, saying that Cullen's dad was on the phone and wanted to talk to me. That was... weird, to say the least. The last time a parent's friend called me, it was Stuart's mom while we were playing D&D, and they had to home and couldn't come back. So yeah.
But apparently, Cullen's dad was on his way to pick up Cullen from work (they live out on Hilliard), but couldn't because of some major flooding. He waa asking me if I could go pick up Cullen and take him to a hotel or something. I was like, sure, no prob. Of course I'll help a friend in trouble, especially when it's something minor like just drive around a little. So I go and pick up Cullen; we come back here, he calls his dad, then we have a mini MvC2 and SCII tournament. He beats me in MvC2 4/3, but I destroy him in SCII 3-0, 3-0. Then we go to Target, Sonic, and Motel 6 where he's going to crash for the night.
When I get home, my phone freaks out. It basically lets me know that it's not going to work anymore. This was a shame, because it did survive the three story fall and continue working after that. Michael did have an extra phone, so I called and he let me have it. I sent him a gMail invite when I got home. It works fine now, although I don't have my custom ringtones anymore. That's slightly annoying, but much, much better than being phoneless or having to buy a new one.
This whole thing brings up an two interesting points:
1) If I had gone to San Antonio, what would have happened to Cullen? I'm not sure. So I guess it's good, to an extent, that I wasn't able to go. I'm certainly not going to go into a "Everything happens for a reason" spiel (well, it does - the events leading up to it, obviously). I made a comment about how I felt somewhat cheered up by our hanging out, and Cullen said something about how Katie was a lot cuter than he was. I forget exactly how it went, but it made sense at the time, trust me. Cullen's like Jarrod and I - we understand, agree, and even expect each other to choose girls over friends. Why? The friends will be there tomorrow, but the girl might now, so enjoy that while it lasts. Plus, they're usually a hell of a lot cuter. If I had to make a choice, it'd be pretty difficult. I'm somewhat confident that Cullen would have been taken care of, and he would preferred that I had gone to San Antonio. In his shoes, that's what I would have preferred (and yes, I've been in a very similiar situation). This is now the second time Katie and I had our plans, made at her instigation, to hang out together dashed by cruel, cruel fate. I don't really believe in signs or that sort of thing, just that it's a very annoying pair of coincidences. Those that feel otherwise will point to the Cullen situation as a third coincidence that makes the whole thing being just a random collection of events unlikely. I say: go away before I hurt you.
2) Dagmar lives out on Hilliard. Were they able to pick her up? Cullen's dad tried 1 1/2 to 2 hours later than they would have, so I'm not sure that they would have been caught in the same situation. What about taking her home? I don't think she'll have a problem crashing with Rose or something similar, but it's an interesting little situation. Again, I'll find out later when I talk to Rose.
I've been toying with the idea of calling Katie to find out what happened and how things went. Of course, if she's hanging out with Zack, that might not be the best idea. That, and I'm incredibly awkward on the phone. I feel - not quite sick, but definitely something in the nauseous category - at the mere thought of calling her. But I think I will.
Looking at the concert info, this is his last concert, or something to that effect:

It's Kinda Funny
We played D&D tonight. Just got home from it, in fact. It was a fairly productive session - the party traveled to Garath for the first time, and will soon begin a series of quests therein. Pictures to follow soon, but I didn't take many this time around.
My phone is a major hoss. I dropped it from the balcony right in front of Matt & Luke's apartment to the concrete below. They live on the third floor. The case didn't suffer any damage, and after some minor tinkering (a Magic card now forms an integral part of my cell phone), it's working just fine. Yes, it survived a three story fall and is working fine. That's so awesome.
Rose told me today that Katie isn't working at Red Roof anymore. Apparently, she was training her replacement, who was gradually going to ease into her shift over the next two and a half weeks. But the boss called her today and told her something to the effect that the new girl was going to work by herself tonight, and if everything went smoothly, she'd just take over the shift (Monday and Wednesday - Saturday). I hope she's okay; she should be; she told me she was contemplating quitting early anyway, but had decided against it.
The funny thing, though, is that it's not that difficult for my mind to construct a bizarre scenario where this is just a ploy for Katie to lessen the amount of time she has to deal with me. Like, this whole thing is just made up so I'll stop stopping by Red Roof and hanging out with her. To clarify, I certainly don't believe it, but it's easy to imagine.

Girls make no sense whatsoever.
More later, but the short version: Katie called 'bout 7:30, left a message that she wanted to go skating tonight, and wondered if I'd like to go with her, but figured (correctly) that I was at work. I sent her a text message after I got off saying something like "Yeah, I was at work, but I would have loved to go. If you weren't going to visit your grandmother this weekend, I'd ask if you'd like to go then. I'm going with some friends Tuesday, if you're interested. If not, that's cool too. -Will" She just send me a message: (NOTE: THIS IS A DIRECT, UNEDITED QUOTE, AND THIS IS THE ENTIRITY OF THE MESSAGE; NOTHING HAS BEEN LEFT OUT:) "Alright".
HUH?
Update:
She just sent another message, saying, and again, this is a direct, complete quote:
"Alright gotta go back 2sleep k".
Perhaps I was supposed to respond to the first one? I don't really understand what she was saying. Alright... I recieved your message? Alright... I'm acknowledging your existence? Alright... I'd love to go skating with you and your friends (Hmm... David and Rose? This is gonna be interesting, to be sure).
I sure hope I didn't wake her up or something. That's why I sent a message, as opposed to a call - didn't want to wake her up or anything. The "back 2sleep" is what leads me to worry about that.
But the pause between the two, with the second one, implies that perhaps I was supposed to respond or something? I have no idea...
And a lot more to discuss. But later.
