Getting glammed up and sitting on the fence now

Finishing up another exciting Tuesday in the computer lab. I didn't realize he pushed back the due date for this assignment; I'm halfway done (we have to do a linked list in two different implementations - one as an oo reasonable thing, and one as three parallel arrays, and I've finished one of them), and I guess kinda way ahead. So that's cool. Today's lab was really fast too, despite having not done any prework for it. I guess that means this semester is going pretty well, which is heartening. I like it when school goes well, it gives me a lot of confidence in myself, and reminds me that yes, I really do belong here.

Things with Becky have gone haywire. She's moving in. Yes, really. Mom suggested it (and, by implication, indicated she was okay with it), and it took us about two days to go for it. I'm pretty nervous about it, but I love her, she loves me, and I'm pretty confident we can work out just about any issues we might have. The main ones are our dogs getting along, and her getting to and from work on days when I can't give her a ride. Admittedly, it will be nice not having to drive between our two apartments a few times a day, and I can't say I'm sad to see her move out of Chapparal, both because of the area it's in and the past associations she has with it.

Speaking of which, I think she's going to see Ralph on Friday. His sister is going to pick him up and she's going to visit him in jail. I'm not exactly thrilled about it, but he was a huge part of her life for almost three years; I certainly wouldn't expect her to just make a clean break or anything. Hell, it took me a year and a half or so to finally break completely with Lilie, and sometimes, it was all too easy to forget what a scheming, manipulative, self-centered bitch she really was. But I definitely trust Rebecca. I've pretty much opened myself to her fully, without reservation, and placed my heart in her hands. I might live to regret it, but I know I'd regret it if I didn't, and I'm willing to accept a broken heart, but I don't want to regret not going for it. The other day on the way to work, she said something like "I want you to be my last long term relationship." Whoa. Yeah, I know. Could we really go all the way? I'm not really making specific plans for that just yet, but it's looking like a possibility. I do love her.

So I guess I'm going to go to Priebe's office hours Thursday morning and ask him some questions about this program. So much of his stuff is very vaguely defined, and stuff like this really needs structure, if you want to do it right. There's variables that make no sense, functions that seem almost useless, all kinds of things, and I want to know what's going. Plus, destructors.

My stab wound is getting better. The actual skin wound is getting smaller, and is already at the point where it's not really impressive to show it off anymore. Sadness. However, from my knee to my ankle is COVERED in massive bruises - I'll probably post pictures of it in a little bit - which Uncle Freddie says is indicative of things that could issues for me later in life, like blood clotting and a stroke. And death. So that's fun. The muscles really hurt, but that's to be expected, especially since I kind of push them. I mean, I'm careful not to put too much stress on them and give them time to heal, but I don't baby and pamper them completely. I don't want to come out of this injury with a massive loss of strength or speed (not that I have much of the latter to begin with, but I have been getting better in the last two months while playing racquetball with Matt). I did a few weights with it a few days ago, but I can really only use the muscle to apply miniscule pressure.

Work has been going okay. I'm still on reduced hours, so that's fun, but other than that, no real complaints. Gina finally realized that Trey is basically worthless, and he's getting demoted. At a food place. How crappy do you have to be to be told "I'm sorry, you can't handle your current responsibilities here" at a place like Domino's? It has moments that are stressful, and intra-personal communication is a bitch, but other than that, the job itself is really easy. Whatever. They put a thing in the latest meeting notes that up to five hours of MiT overtime per week is acceptable, so that's a positive sign. I think Dylan managed to get himself banned from the store by showing up all the time to hit on Sarah, and she showed her the text he wrote her. I have to follow up on that and confirm, but that makes me happy. Yes, I judge people quickly and harshly, but a) I give them the chance to prove me wrong, and b) I'm usually right. Suck on that.

If the silence was a song

So I'm at the computer lab on campus, and I just finished program 2. It went really, really well. I went to ask the professor a question this morning, and he was like "If this is where you're at, there's no way you're going to finish in time." I tried telling him about my java background and how I've done this before and what-not, but he persisted. I turned it in about ten minutes ago. Granted, that's only two, maybe two and a quarter hours to spare, and anything going drastically wrong could have meant that I wouldn't have finished in time. But I did. So there. And it is awesome.

I think I really like this work environment. It's sparse, and pretty much the only other things going on are other people working and my headphones. I don't really get cell reception in here, so there's no texts to distract me (not that that's a bad thing), there's no tv, no computer games, no video games, no dogs, no dishes, no laundry, nothing. Of course, there's something to be said for taking the occasional break to clear your head and what-not. However, I've been coding almost non-stop since I called Becky at like 4:30, so that's over three hours straight, and another hour, hour and a half before that. I didn't really get stuck on anything, so I didn't have to stop and come back with a fresh mind. I don't know if that's going to be the case every time I come here to program, but it went well enough this time. The keyboard isn't a split ergonomic one like I prefer, but I can live with that. The buttons are suitably responsive, and that'll do for now.

Things with Rebecca are going crazy awesome. We've spent a total of two nights apart since last Monday when I got stabbed, and, before yesterday evening, maybe ten hours. It'll be about twenty, twenty-two hours since I've seen her when I pick her up from work, and that'll be our current longest time apart. I wouldn't mind if it's our longest time apart ever, but I already know that's not going to be the case - Wrestlemania XXV is right around the corner, and that will probably be 48-ish hours. But yeah, I told her I loved her the other night, and that went well. I hesitated on it for a while, I wanted to make sure it wasn't just a puppy crush or the emotional downturn of getting stabbed or something related to the two and a half years I've been pursuing her (well, it is, but not entirely). We just connect on such a deep level - I mean yeah, there's a lot of ways we're just really good friends, but the passion is there too. I feel so comfortable around her; I've sung, I've taken my shirt off, I've told her everything about my past she could ever want to know without hesitation. It's nuts. We've talked about various things in our future - spending New Year's together, meeting each other's families, moving in together - not as "things on the horizon", things that will be nice if they happen someday, but as definite events in the near and foreseeable future.

I love her.

I'm such a dork - I just finished writing my Go Fish! program, and I had the two players named Becky and Billy. I did have two more players named Janelle and Mike, but they didn't get used, as it's primarily a two person program. They were just in there as proof of concept. I got 2 points off of my last program for insufficient comments, so I commented the crap out of this one. Some of them were a little rude or humorous, so I hope that goes over well. CS people tend to be a little sarcastic by nature, so I'm not worried.

Overall, this semester's going pretty well, between work, school, socially. The only roadblock is physically. I did start on my new life plan a few weeks back, and it was going amazing - I lost like 15 pounds in 15 days, and that wasn't with a crash or fad diet or something. Just eating right and exercise, which are the cornerstones of any true life shift. However, when Ralph stabbed me, it pretty much robbed me of any ability to work out for the time being, which is oh so frustrating, and just another grievance I have against him. Whatever. He said that he's going to win Rebecca back after he gets out of jail. Bring it on.

So yeah. Watching my wound heal is pretty interesting, and really, really gross. Right now, my entire leg from the wound to my ankle is bruised all to hell, which is what my ankle did as well. The dried blood is all black, but the interior doesn't look that gross or infected or anything. I'll be keeping a close eye on it. I got to take an actual shower last night, as the eye strips finally came off (with a little assistance). It felt *so* good.

You'll never have to be alone

A few days ago (Friday? Thursday?), Ralph told Rebecca that she had to stop talking to me, or that they were through. She was unwilling to do so, so I they broke up over that. I knew they were together soon enough after her and I started talking, and I really wasn't going to try anything to stop that. I'm having a weird feeling of deja vu writing this, and it has nothing to do with how many times I've had to tell this story in the last two days. Whatever.

So they're broken up, but she hasn't had a chance to move out just yet, so they're still living together. Sunday night, I had to take the weekly paperwork to New Braunfels and drop it off at my district manager's house. We have to finish closing first, then do all that, so it's usually around 2:30 or 3:30 that we leave the store. I was talking to Rebecca, and she offered to ride down there with me, and I jumped on the opportunity. I pulled up into the parking lot of her apartment complex, and saw her sitting at the top of the stairs waiting for me.

Before she was able to even start walking down, Ralph comes tearing down the stairs and towards my truck. I knew that couldn't be good. He threw the door of my truck open and was yelling at me - "What the fuck, dude?!". He punched me once, it hit me in the left temple, right where the eyebrow ends. That broke skin, and I started bleeding right away. He went to punch me a second time, and I caught that one on my arm. At some point, Rebecca had climbed into the truck and was yelling at him to stop. I think? It was happening really fast, so I'm not 100% sure as to the precise timeline, and only certain phrases are clear.

Anyway, he also punched me in the leg, and I really noticed that, since my thigh muscle clenched up really hard as soon as he did so. I didn't think much of the punch to the face; it didn't really hurt or anything, so I wasn't too worried about it. I figured he just got a really good shot on my leg. He also yelled "You're leaving me for this?!" at Rebecca. I didn't get out of the truck or anything; I've never been in a fight (does this count, now?), so I wouldn't really be sure what to do.

Anyway, after he hit me in the leg, I was yelling at him to chill out, and I think he did. He snapped and was all "Oh man, I'm sorry dude" and was trying to wipe the blood of my face from the wound there. It was really weird, and I just told him to go away.

We started driving away, and I was looking for my phone. It's usually sitting on the arm rest, and it wasn't there. I was worried that it fell out when he opened the door so hard, so I was trying to feel in my pocket to see if it was there. I felt some wetness, which kind of worried me - I knew he'd broken my skin when he punched me in the face, and that happens, but I didn't think it was really possible for him to break skin punching me in the leg through a pair of khaki pants.

I felt a small tear in my pant leg, and stuck my finger through that. I found a similar tear in my leg, and the entire pant leg was soaked through with blood. I turned to Rebecca and told her that he'd stabbed me. We went to the hospital from there. My muscle was clenching up so hard, I wasn't sure I'd be able to walk on it. It hurt a lot. We finally got to the hospital, and I managed to get out of the truck. Got up the stairs okay, and walked into the emergency room lobby. There wasn't anyone at the front desk, so I started filling out the paper. Shelly was sitting in the waiting room, and yelled out at me. I introduced her to Rebecca, then showed her my pant leg. It really freaked her out.

The desk lady finally came and took my paper, and called for the other guy, who led me to the back to be dealt with. I handed Rebecca my license and keys and asked her to hold on to them. They took me to the back, and I had to take my pants off in front of like six people. That was interesting, but I'm fairly comfortable with my own (disgusting) body, so that went okay. They hooked me up to everything, then started taking off my shoes and stuff. Cleaned up everything, put the super glue on my eyebrow, ascertained that there weren't any real issues with my leg; just a deep puncture wound in my thigh muscle. It has to heal from the inside, apparently, so no stitches, no super glue, nothing. It's just open to the world.

The police finally showed up and took my statement; I definitely pressed charges. They finally allowed Rebecca to come back into my little bed area; I realized too late I was still only half covered, so I was exposed from the waist down, save my underwear, when she came back. We talked a little; she kept talking about how bad she felt. I had to keep re-assuring her that it wasn't her fault.

I had to call Janelle at about 4:30 am to get her to bring me a change of clothes. Rebecca was so afraid that my family would hate her now, because she got me stabbed. It was really funny (to me, at least) when Janelle got there - "Janelle, you remember Rebecca? Rebecca, Janelle?" It hurt SO BAD trying to get out of the bed, I was laughing so hard (turns out I laugh when I'm in pain; the more it hurts, the harder I laugh).

Jessy - My Star

Do you some times
Think of me
The way that I'm thinking of you
I pictured us together
And boy how I wish it to be true

So many miles
Just too far away
I try to find the words
But I don't know what to say
Each time you call me up and ask how I've been
Next time I'll see you
My head will surely spin

You're my star
You're my star
Oh baby, you're my star..

[chorus]
You're My Star, Shining At Night
A Million Miles Away But Always By My Side (2x)

You're My Star Shining So Bright
You Take My Breath Away
Baby You're My Light (2x)

Does your heart skip a beat
Each time that I am around
All this time you've been searching for
This thing that is so hard to find

Just maybe you have searched too hard
The dream you may fantasize
And the day it'll be in front of you
You might not realise

[chorus]
Your My Star, Shining At Night
A Million Miles Away But Always By My Side (2x)

Your My Star Shining So Bright
You Take My Breath Away
Baby You're My Light (2x)

Mmh.. You're my star

You drive me crazy 'cause you could be the one
My mister Right
I don't know what you've done
With my mind, with my heart
Right from the very start
You look to me and made me see
Heaven here on earth

You're my star..

I was Juliet, you were throwing pebbles

So how do I feel about Rebecca?  As evidenced by my blog posts, I've had a crush on her since the first time I saw her.  I thought she was very attractive, and desperately wanted to get to know her, but thought I'd never get the chance.  I thought this was like a dream come true, and I really jumped at it.  I didn't ask her right out, and it took a while for it to come out, but it eventually came out that they were still together.  I'll admit, I was a tiny bit saddened; I was really hoping we'd hook up.  I mean, I'll definitely take the oppurtunity as it presents itself, and I did.  I did let her know how I felt, and if I'm reading this right, she basically told me that she wished she had a chance to give me a chance to give us a chance.

The recurring theme that kept cropping up was that Ralph couldn't know, and I felt that was a little messed up.  We weren't doing anything wrong, what reason was there to hide it?  At least, that's a surface interpretation of the situation.  As it turned out, it's just a festering cesspool of drama (the best kind).  He's apparently crazy jealous, and constantly accuses her of cheating on him, of being with other guys.  I mean, it's to the point where he won't let her have a computer, because he thinks she'll just use it to meet guys and hook up with them.

Here's the thing about relationships.  They're built on trust.  You can argue about it being communication, passion, love, or something else, but I assert that trust is what it all boils down to.  Why would you be with someone you can't trust?  If you're in a relationship, trust is the cornerstone!  You can't stop people from doing stuff they want to do.  Why would you want to be with someone that will cheat on you given any chance, and it's your job to make sure they get no chance?  I really don't understand it.  Whatever.

So during the shakeout process, he called me twice from her phone.  I'm not really thrilled about that; I don't want to talk to him.  The first time was to tell me about how he was done with her and stuff, the second time was to tell me how much they loved each other and how they were getting married.  I should mention that he spent the time immediately afterwards calling varous members of his family to tell them what a whore she was.

Fuck him.  That's the last time I want him mentioned on this blog.

So, moving on.  Where does it go from here?  I don't know.  I talked to her briefly when she got to work today.  It sounds like she intends to go with it, at least for the moment.  It's less than twenty-four hours since the shakeout really started, so it's hard to say where this is going to go.  I want her to be happy.  If she marries some guy and we're friends, that's cool.  If she marries some douchebag out of necessity, well, that's one more failure I can hang on my head.  That's a little roundabout, but if I hadn't screwed up my school stuff, maybe I could offer her a place to live, clear the necessity out of it.  Then again, if I did, would I still be living here, working at Domino's, where she would have had the oppurtunity to come see me?  I don't know.

So I think I'm caught up for the most part; I'll probably throw out random pieces here and there as I continue coverage of this drama llama of a situation.

Taylor Swift -- Love Story

A million miles away, but always in my heart

So I opened it up, and started reading it.  I won't go into it word for word, but she did say that she missed me from when I used to stop by her work and talk to her all the time, and she felt like she lost a friend, and she missed me, and gave me her number and told me to call/text her.  She even specified that if I called her, I should make sure to leave a message.

It was like 11 pm by that point, and I wasn't sure what kind of schedule she was keeping these days, now that she was on days, so I felt it would be better to wait until the next day.  That, and I really wasn't sure what to say.

Before I left, I put in her number just to see what would come up - and one order did come up, from a week previously, with a veggie pizza on it and Ralph's name.  That caught me a little off-guard, since that probably meant they were still together.

It took me until Sunday afternoon to send her a text; I wasn't quite sure what to expect.  We texted quite a bit - I think the count was about 130 (both ways) in a little under 24 hours.  I ended up giving her a ride home a day or two later, and on Wedneday, we went to the park together.  That was pretty cool.  I took her to the little playground off of Bishop, amongst all the new houses by Bishop and Lisa.  We played around out there for a little while; eventually, we stopped by my house, introduced her to the dogs, then took her back home.

That's when things got interesting.  It turns out Ralph found out about us fairly quickly.  He confronted her about it, then broke up with her.

Oh, apparently, they're going to get married now.  So that's fun.  So, I have one more post to make, where I sum a few things - our feelings for each other, how fucked up their relationship is, and one or two other things.

You're my star, shining at night

I haven't written in quite a while, at least, nothing of any subsequence. There hasn't really been much to write about lately - work and school have just been a blur, there haven't been any major events in my life, and I've found better things to do with my spare time than whine about the mundane. Well, kinda.

Whatever.

So, yeah.   Work this weekend was
horrendous.  All three days, I walked into the store at 5 pm in the middle of all hell breaking loose.  They were busy as heck during the day, and never really got caught up at any point.  Friday was horrendous.  Saturday started to look the same way, until about six.  I was on the oven, could barely keep my head above water trying to get everything routed, keep everything up to speed.  The door opened just like normal, someone comes in.  I did a double take 'cause the face looked familiar, and eventually realized it was Rebecca.  Yes, that Rebecca.  I totally freaked, 'cause I hadn't seen her in quite a few months, since she had moved to daytime deli "to have a more normal life".  I did see her a week or three ago at Walmart in the morning one time, but I didn't even get to talk to her.  It was really exciting, 'cause I was afraid that she'd gone out of my life forever.  I didn't know anything about her that would help me find her (sounds stalker-ish, almost), so that was the only tenuous link I had.

But back to the story at hand.  I caught eye contact with her a few times, but I couldn't go up to her or anything, we were so busy.  Janelle ended up taking her order; if I had a chance, I would have told her not to charge her.  I did get a chance to go give her her order when it was ready, and I was helping another customer at the same time.  I couldn't really talk to her much even at that point - Gina was standing right there, we were crazy busy, it just wasn't in the cards.  She told me she had a letter for me, and I told her I'd love to read it.  She produced a small, unmarked, sealed envelope.

It was crazy busy for the next few hours, and even once it slowed down, it took me a while to work up the nerve to read it.  I mean, it's hard to imagine someone coming into your place of work, giving you a letter, and having it be a bad thing.  I'm trying to remember who it was, someone kept saying it was probably an invitation to her wedding.  I said that was highly unlikely, and he (she?) said that girls are kind of bitches, and it was likely.  I doubted it.  I constructed a few likely scenarios - did the whole Big O thing, best case, worst case, average case, and most likely case.

Finally, when the drivers were all out on runs and I had an empty screen, I opened it up and started reading it.  I mean, she worked up the nerve to walk into the lion's den, it was the least I could do to match her courage.  More to come.

Put down that chainsaw, and listen to me

Facebook is really, really depressing.

Really, really, really depressing. I mean, yeah, it's great being able to see all my friends' status updates and share pictures and trade fun games and meet friends of friends and show off your favorite quotes and all this stuff. However, if you're twenty-five, still working on your BS (your first one), living at home, working as an assistant manager at Domino's, single with absolutely no prospects, overweight, and pretty pathetic overall, it can be depressing to see all your friends from high school doing graduate work and getting married.

Now, I pretty much got over the whole social yardstick thing. It's my life, I can't really compare it to everyone else - we each have our own path to travel through life, that kind of stuff. Whatever.

Of course, that doesn't make me feel that much better when I'm sitting in Discrete I and Alana is teaching the class across the hall.

Moving on.

I registered for summer classes. I think I'm taking ten hours over both summer sessions - six in two three hour classes, then four in a three hour course with one hour lab. Good stuff - Philosphy, Chem II, Chem II Lab, and Prob/Stat. Shouldn't be too hard.

Stopped by Wal-Mart and saw Rebecca earlier. That was really cool, we hadn't seen each other in over a week. She might have seemed happy to see me? I'm hesitant to actually saw that, self-esteem and our situation and all, but I think so?

I've been kinda depressed lately, but I think that might have snapped me out of it. Maybe, we'll see. Also, I keep staying awake for stupid long periods of time without any preparation or real reason. I'm not sure why.

I think Bill's probably leaving near the end of the summer, and Josh isn't going to be working very much after the spring semester ends. Sadness. Jaoquin is quitting, 'cause we're not really giving him any shifts. Of course, he had this annoying tendency to not be able to work the shifts he was given, so I don't feel too bad about it.

Can't stop loving you

Talked to Rebecca last night. She mentioned that yes, she hearts her boyfriend (through an anecdote about something at work). However, she did give me what I feel is final, incontrovertible proof that she doesn't think I'm a creepy bastard that's stalking her. We were talking as I was about to leave, and she kind of mentioned that I was in one of her dreams. She couldn't remember what it was about or anything. However, I submit that under no circumstances would you tell someone that if you fear they are a creepy bastard that's stalking you.

Moving on.

Only two more shifts in my eleven shift marathon. Today's is going to be particularly interesting, since it's basically just me and Trey inside during a Sunday night, with all the kids coming back from Spring Break. Q said it's steady at best, trending towards slow, so that's a decent sign, though I think it'll get busier as the day goes on. Of course, we did manage to survive Saturday night doing about 25, so we'll see how it goes. Monday is going to be easy-peasy, with Sandra as my closing insider. The only negative part is that we're going to be doing the 3.99 medium 1 toppings again. Of course, we didn't really advertise it this time, so we'll see how that goes.

We journey over oceans, five fathoms deep

So. Good times.

I'm doing eleven 5-C shifts in a row (by choice, I'm not whining or anything, just recapping), and I just finished up #3. Eight to go.

Work's been kinda blah lately. Julianne quit, no big surprises there. She called in a *lot*. She was kinda worthless, but she could at least answer phones. Or something. I have to work with Trey a lot this week while Bill's on vacation. Good times. Oh, almost went into it with Dylan a few nights ago. So we have this dual-layer heat rack. They each have a switch to turn it off, but the one on the bottom has been redone as a master cut-off switch with an indicator light. That way, you only have to switch one switch to turn it on, and you can see the light to make sure it's on. Long story short, when you're closing, you turn off the main switch, and leave the other switch on. I keep having to tell him not to turn off the top switch. It's such a stupid little thing. Seriously. It should have just taken one "Hey, don't turn off this top switch" and that should have been the end of it. Of course, it wasn't. I've said something to him about it three times, Bill's brought it up at least once. Other than that, whatever.

Went to Wal-Mart the other night, talked to Rebecca. Turns out she's probably moving home this summer when her lease is up. Home is Rockport, a good distance away. It kind of puts an end to the whole thing. Sandra said something like "Well, you'd better make your move! Take her to lunch or something." I think she was just being nice. They do humor me. Anyway. Yeah, it's kind of depressing. Of course, I'm fully aware how pathetic it is for me to be depressed that some girl I've had a crush on for a while now is moving away. I mean, I refer to her as my 'pretend girlfriend' and everything, because it's not like there's ever a chance of something happening. I haven't lost all touch with reality. Whatever. So yeah, wa wa wa, I'm a big pathetic loser, whatever. Of course, it would be the next day that I go through facebook's friend-finder thing and end up with some slight contact with Lilie again. I mean, it's not like I'm still in love with her or anything, but she was the last person I had anything with, so when things seem kinda bad, and then to have that shoved in my face (or whatever), yeah. Good times.

Of course, it's fun to go into a negative emotion spiral, start taking things in the worst possible light. I'm twenty-five, living at home, working at a pizza place. Then start feeling as down as possible about various facets of life. I'll work on that later.

They don't love you like I love you

I'm in kind of a bad place right now.

I fully realize that everything I'm going to complain about in this post is, in the grand scheme of things, relatively minor. I'm completely aware that my life is pretty good - decent job, loving and supportive family, health, etc.

That being said, it's bitching time.

WORK

Work is the source of my current bad mood. Things are changing, and mostly, not for the better. First and foremost, Q. I mean, he's a great guy. But I'm starting to have some issues with him. Let's start with putting the truck up. I mean, we organize the walk-in a specific way. He just kind of throws all the shit in. I should clarify, I'm not dead-set on OUR specific way of organizing everything. If he wants to reorganize stuff and put things in different places, that's fine. But it definitely needs to have specific places, keep everything together. We're too busy, our walk-in is too small, we get three trucks a week, we can't do inventory until a little before close. Seriously, I'm not an organizational freak or anything, but I recognize that there's time when it's necessary. This is one of those times. I mean, seriously. Gina instilled it in me that we have to keep that walk-in organized, and it's true. I'm going to ask him about it tomorrow, see if there's a reason, maybe it was just the last two trucks with mitigating circumstances. Whatever.

It's kind of annoying. I came back to Domino's to work for Sergio, not for Domino's. Fuck Domino's. I mean, I'll grant that it's definitely a better gig for Sonic, but that's not saying too much amongst menial service jobs (especially when they restructure our MiT bonus plan, see below). Whatever.

Then, they're changing the MiT bonus plan structure. They're making it more of a 'pay-for-performance' thing, which I don't disagree with.

In principle.

However, there's a few things they need to point out that they're not really saying. They're presenting it as removing the current cap on the MiT bonus, and replacing it with 2% of the store's EBITDA. In principle, it's reasonable. The better the store is doing, both in sales and translating that sales to profit, the higher the bonus the assistant managers get. However, it's worth noting that we have the second highest EBITDA in the company, and it would make our new cap 180-something instead of 200. Everyone else's goes down substantially. They don't really mention that in the flyer that EVERYONE's bonus cap is going to go down. DRASTICALLY. It follows from the information presented, but you have to dig down a little to really look at it. The other caveats aren't really that big a deal - an 80 or above on your MiT eval, no criticals, and a minimum of a 4 on your WCMSC. That last one is basically just a grading of your store across a variety of metrics - labor, food, personnel, sales, etc. Unfortunately, I doubt we'll be getting a 4 any time soon. Our last one was a 2, and we need something like 20 points to raise that to a 4. 21 points, I think. I mean, the reasoning underneath all of it is sound, I guess. The idea that we influence the WCMSC and profitability is understandable, and they're trying to reflect that. Whatever. It's just annoying.

What's next, what's next? Oh, they're making that 3.99 medium 1-topping carryout special a periodic thing. It's really, really annoying. The drivers hate it. The insiders hate it. The MiTs hate it. Basically, it's only really good for boosting sales in low-sales stores. It didn't really help ours.

Hmm.

What else?

Co-workers.

Some of them are kind of annoying. I mean, hell, it'd be too easy to pick on Adam or Kyle here, but that's too easy. I'm talking about inside people. I'm really trying not to dwell on this one, because I'll start going nuts. Trey kind of reminds me of Ben from Sonic. It's frustrating. Yes, our job is simplistic, menial, entry-level, unskilled, etc. But there are specific ways to do those jobs, ways they have to be done. I hate sounding as stupid as I know it does, but you have to do things the way they're supposed to be done.

Anyway.

And Bill, the rush is so, so much easier if you MAKE PRESLAPS and PREP BREAD.

I don't mean to sound all high and mighty. I'm just venting.

Moving on.

I'm going to dye my hair pink on Tuesday. Well, Rose is going to. Very, very, very pink. That should be fun.

What else, what else?

Rebecca, I s'pose. We talk every time I'm in there. I haven't lost touch with reality or anything, I'm not getting my hopes up or anything. It's weird, we are sort of slowly becoming friends. Maybe, I guess? I'm not going to overthink this one. I overthink every single one of our interactions and encounters as it is, I'm not going to ruin the whole thing.

Moving on.

Paid off one of my student loans, that was really exciting.

You move around like you're unbreakable

Couple things to write about. Crazy dreams, talking to Rebecca - you know, nothing substantial.

This dream I had just recently, woke up a few hours ago. It's fading really, really quickly, but one part stands out. I had a crazy swordfight with some weird French dude in the house. I mean, real swordfighting with epees that could take an ear off. I ended up beating him when I grabbed a spatula and used it as an off-hand weapon and beat the crap out of it while I used my epee to counter his (thanks Jarrod!).

That dream was pretty neat.

Then I had this other dream a few days ago. I wanted to write about it as soon as I woke up so I could get all of it, but I didn't get around to it. Basically, this girl was going to make a video of her doing some cool dive or something into her big pool, but she hit her head on the water or something, so she started sinking straight down and was going to drown. Both her father and I jumped in to save her, but I got down and brought her up before she died or anything. We had already been friends or something, so we went to hang out at her (very large) place. We had to swim across a bay or osmething to get there, that was cool. Oh, and her servants and family really only spoke Italian, and I tried stumbling through some stuff. Good times.

Been on a huge Vanessa Carlton kick lately, her last album is simply amazing.

So yeah.

Oh!

Rebecca.

Rose *and* Matt both wanted to go to Wal-Mart last night; I was only too happy to oblige. She was working the door. Overnight, that's pretty boring. Anyway, I didn't really make it any further into the store than that. Not necessary. We talked for twenty minutes or so. I keep thinking 'Maybe I should excuse myself and leave her alone?', but I don't think that was ever an issue. It's such a weird line I'm trying to walk - I'm pretty sure she knows I like her (she said as much when I ASKED HER OUT), and I don't want her to think that one little rejection will destroy my interest - I'm not nearly so fickle - but I don't want to come off so strong.

Actually, that last sentence is a complete lie. I don't put nearly that much thought into it. My thought process is more like "OHGODOHGODOHGODOHGODOHGODOHGODOHGODDON'TBEACREEPYBASTARDOHGODOHGODOHGODOHGOD". I think that's where the deer-in-headlights comes from. I guess I don't do so well when my inner monologue is freaking out. Whatever.

So yeah, we talked. Notable things - she asked me both (a) if I have a girlfriend and (b) if I live alone. Now certainly, I'm not reading *too* much into things like that - she's just making conversation, being friendly, etc. However, I don't think those are things you might ask someone you think is a creepy bastard who you really don't want to deal with anymore.

I hope.

Anyway, yeah, we talked for like twenty minutes. She said I hadn't formally introduced myself, and she wouldn't have known my name if it wasn't for Suzie (not my ex, but one of the other cashiers), though I swear that one time, she had to bring my food out to me 'cause I ordered a burger at like 7 am, and I asked her her name, and she told me, and she asked me my name, and I told her), but yeah. I should have just taken the opportunity to say "Hi! My name's Billy, and it's my great pleasure to meet you." Of course, I didn't do that. I instead argued with her (!), citing that occurrence. She didn't remember it, which isn't terribly surprising - "Are you sure that it wasn't someone else at Jack in the Box?" - was one of my favorite lines from that conversation.

Of course, that does point at a huge psychological flaw I seem to have. I enjoy being right. I'll argue about it when I think I am, even if it does no good even if I win. Case in point: I could have just apologized, taken the chance to introduce myself then and there, and it would have been pretty cool. But did I? Nope. Argued (!) about it. I mean, gah. Little things like that, I think I should work on a bit.

So anyway. We talked.

Went to class today, spent a while cleaning up my truck, finally put the seat cover on the new seat. Emptied an entire bottle of Febreeze on it to get the smell out. Went ahead and washed the truck, since I was already there. Good times.

'Cause I found some kind of fairy tale

Life's pretty good right now.

Work's been interesting. Q, our new GM, has finally moved down to San Marcos and is going to be opening five days a week, moving Bill back to sharing the closing shifts with me. As it should be, and all that. I'm getting my near-50 hours a week, so my paychecks are pretty decent right now - not nearly the ones from Sonic when I was getting 70+, but nothing to sneeze at either. I did take off three days this week - Tuesday through Thursday, so I can rest and do stuff and generally enjoy life. Good times.

I was off on Valentine's Day, and I was going to take Mom out for dinner, since her and Billy had just broken up. I stopped by work to turn in my new insurance; they were somewhere between forty and fifty pies down. That was... well, crazy. Trey and Michelle were there, but I couldn't see how they managed to get that far down. I love Bill to death, but I wonder sometimes. Anyway. I was in my pajama pants, a t-shirt, and wearing sandals (yes, I was wearing pajama pants at seven pm. I had gone to sleep after class, having closed the night before and staying up for my eight o'clock class), but I threw on an apron, a hat, washed my hands and arms thoroughly, and jumped in. Two hours later, things were finally calming down. I hate nights like that - not because I mind having to work really hard, or that I was annoyed having to help out on my day off or anything, but because we gave a lot of people terrible service. I've taken to referring to it as the 'Valentine's Day Massacre', which I think sounds neat. I'm trying to remember if there was actually a V-Day massacre, or I'm thinking of another day. Either way. Bill and Q both thought it would be slow on V-Day, but Stan seemed to think we should have anticipated the high volume better.

They decided to do a 3.99 medium 1-topping carryout special, open to close, all this week, ending Thursday night at close. Interesting choice. It did boost sales above last year (the stated goal behind this) for a lot of stores - not ours, of course. Despite doing 2066, we were still down almost six hundred dollars from last year. Of course, we're down over twelve thousand for the period - second on an absolute level (one store is down seventeen!), and not doing *that* bad on a percentage level.

Other than that, work's been pretty much the same lately. Been on a huge Vanessa Carlton kick lately. Not sure why, but I keep queuing up her stuff to listen to. I mean, I like some contemporary singer-songwriters, at least the commercially successfully ones that I don't have to dig too deep to find - Vanessa Carlton, Michelle Branch, Jewel, being the three that come readily to mind. But Vanessa's stuff especially has really been resonating with me lately. In fact, I might (a) change my profile song to reflect that and (b) my ringtone. It's been 'Boyfriend' by Ashlee Simpson basically since I started importing mp3s, and it might be time for a change. We'll see.

I bought the drums for Rock Band. Holy crap, that's fun. I mean, crazy fun. Michelle, of course, made the snarky comment about learning to play a real instrument, instead of pretending to play a fake one, but whatever. I can learn this one in five minutes, don't have to buy an expensive drum set, and can play it along with my friends playing their fake instruments. Besides, I did play trombone for seven years, so it's not like I'm musically illiterate or something. Anyway, lots of fun. I'm working out how to get Matt and Cullen and Ambra and Rose all together for some group fun. As for the drums, I'm still having coordination issues, especially with the kick drum, but I'm quickly getting better.

School's going well. Took my second chemistry test this morning, have my first discrete test on Thursday. Good times. Still haven't talked to anybody in any of my classes or anything, still working on that one.

I talked to Rebecca last night at Wal-Mart, that was cool. She asked me if I was avoiding her on Thursday (V-Day) or something, I told her that no, I was just anxious to get home and play drums, and that Rose wasn't feeling well, so we didn't want to dilly-dally (didn't manage to work that in there, or anything). She was all, "Oh, 'cause I wanted to wish you a happy Valentine's Day." That was awesome. We talked about stuff. I told her what I ended up doing on Valentine's Day, learned that the guy she's dating right now is only her second boyfriend. And, of course, today. Josh and I played our usual two hours of racquetball, I took the set 4-2 (putting our total record at something like 12-3 or thereabouts). Anyway. After dropping him off at the store, I went to the bank to deposit my paycheck. The first three or four lanes had a car at the kiosk, but the next one was both open and empty, so I pulled in there and started filling out my deposit slip. I glanced over at the car next to me, and lo and behold, she was sitting in the passenger set. Holy crap! She was earing like a pink shirt. It was the first time I'd seen her outside of her current place of employment. She definitely saw me too, but she didn't really openly acknowledge me or anything, leading me to draw one of a few conclusions. (A) She could have been with her boyfriend, and didn't really feel like explaining who I was ("Him? Oh, he's this guy that's had a crush on me for like two years; he comes by Wal-Mart a lot just 'cause I work there and we've started talking a little bit more each time. Basically, just some guy.") (B) Boyfriend might be a little possessive? (C) Regardless of who she was wiht, she just really didn't want to deal with me outside of work at all, perhaps fearing I'm now following her around or something (like I know what other kind of vehicle she might be riding around in? That would be scary.)

But I had this huge grin on my face as I sat there filling out my stuff, with her right there. I didn't really turn back or anything, because I was following her lead, regardless of the reason. They left fairly soon, but it was awesome.

Anyway.

You like me and I like you

So life's been interesting lately. Let's see...

Sergio's been officially fired. Well, that happened like, what, two weeks ago? Three? Something like that. We've got this new guy, Q, who's alright so far. We're still trying to get him to do things our way, instead of just some random way (it's not like he's trying to introduce some better way), but overall, I think he'll do okay. I kind of pissed of a lot of drivers tonight, but they'll live. We've hired three new insiders - Julianne, Michelle, and Trey, who are all doing pretty well. Michelle is SO cute, and I'm halfway thinking about asking her out or something. I don't know, though - the difference in work levels might be an issue (though it's not like this is a real job, so I don't know, whatever). Haven't been working with Jenni very often, which makes me sad, but she came in the other day and gave me a huge hug and was like "Aw, I haven't seen you in forever!" That made me happy.

School's going good so far too. Had my first test last week, in Chemistry; didn't go to class on Thursday, but I'll get it back in a few days, we'll see how it goes. Have my first assignment coming up in Assembly Language, but it's just converting to different binary interpretations (mostly), so that'll be pretty easy. This semester is just a warm-up, anyway.

Not much has happened with Rebecca, beside me getting my creepy bastard on. Sandra made a halfway comment along those lines, and it really hurt. I thought I'd been so careful at every step *not* to be a creepy bastard, just to show some sincere interest. Whatever.

I think Mom and Billy broke up. That sucks, she seemed kind of happy with him. Kinda. Janelle and Mike are still going strong; that's cool.

The dreamers get punished most

So I saw Rebecca at Wal-Mart the other day (gosh, a lot of posts are starting this way. whatever).

Actually, I'm going to come back to Rebecca, and start with school and stuff.

School's going okay so far. I was really tired yesterday (because of work), but got through school okay. The way my classes are set up, my least favorite, most boring is first, and I end with my favorite, least boring class. Here's a breakdown so far:

Chem 1341, Lippman:
This one is kinda boring. The professor is really, really old. I can't stress that enough. Extremely old. He talks a lot, and has a habit of trying to bring in anecdotes that are in NO WAY INTERESTING. We were talking about uncertainty in measurements, and he starts talking about engineers and small parts and tolerance for uncertainty as an example of applications of that principle. You'll notice I used about half a sentence to explain it. That's all it takes. Not ten minutes. Whatever.

CS 2308, Drissi
I love this guy. He has this crazy accent - we say character CARE - ick - ter. He says ka - RACK - ter. It's awesome. Just trying to follow what he's saying can at time keep me on my toes. Still don't have any idea what the assignments or tests are going to be like in this class. Oh, and it's a CS class, so there are very few actual human beings in the class, it's predominately introverted geniuses.

Math something, Discrete I, Wu
So far, this is my favorite class. It has the most class participation, the most theoretical work (Math professors don't give two shits about real-world applications), and there's this deaf guy that I usually sit behind. Now, that in and of itself has no bearing on the class, but one of the interpretors is SO cute. Not hot or anything, and she's older, probably mid-30's to early 40's, but SO CUTE. She gets her whole face into it, really expressive. SO CUTE.

So that's school so far.

On to work.

Work sucks. They just fired Sergio, so we have no GM. Additionally, if he hadn't sent me a text telling me as much, we wouldn't know, as they haven't seen fit to let us know. I don't know what's going to happen now. I really don't think it should continue as this little triad thing we're doing right now, as there's too many cracks for stuff to fall through. There needs to be one person in charge, and receiving compensation as such. I'm definitely not going to do it - the time commitment is such that it could create an issue with school, which is by far my top priority right now. Terrance definitely doesn't want it either, that leaves Bill. He's a great guy and all, and he sorta expressed some interest in doing it, although his management experience is somewhat limited. We'll see how that goes. I mean, he's light years better than the alternatives - bringing in someone from San Antonio, or hiring someone from outside, or keeping on as we are right now.

Our order dates just changed, so Monday night, we ran out of medium dough, provolone cheese, green peppers, onions, chicken kickers, and medium and large deep dish. It was fun.

Now, on to the good stuff. We hired this cute insider named Michelle. She hasn't had her first official day yet, though she did work on Monday. Taller - about 5'7"-ish, kinda chunky, blond. So cute.

Went to Wal-Mart the other night, saw Rebecca. We talked for a little while, probably fifteen minutes. It was good stuff. She's left-handed, played french horn in high school, and is possibly hispanic. I ran into her again a few nights later, she was asking me about a ladder, which I helped her find. I talked to that other girl that's really cool that used to work in softlines that I went to high school with. She asked me how my night was going, I told her 'fantastic!', she asked why, I gestured with my head to where Rebecca was, her eyes went wide with understanding. I ended up standing next to her while she checked out, we had the following conversation - "Hey, don't tell anyone about that, please." "Sure, no problem. Hey, you know she has a boyfriend, right?" "Yeah, I found out when I asked her out." "Oh, wow. Yeah, I thought I saw her smile like this (smiles) while she was helping you." "Actually, I was helping her find a ladder." Robyn was our cashier during that whole thing, which was cool.

Got my computer hooked up to output audio through my new speaker system, and video to my tv, which is cool. I can even have it do the SNES emulator to the TV, which is cool. Kind of old school.

It makes the truth even more incomprehensible

Two quick notes. First, school starts in two days - well, three for me, since I only have Tue/Thu classes, but whatever - and I'm frickin' scared. I mean, I'm worried that I'll mess it up again. It was never that classes were too hard, or I didn't have enough time, or couldn't manage it well enough, or was too stressed out, or anything like that. I just didn't care. Theoretically, I've fixed that problem, but I won't know that without some empirical evidence. I won't have that for a few weeks. Got my last textbook in the mail today, for Chem. I have everything I need now, just waiting for the big day.

Went by Wal-Mart last night, saw Nolan. Talked to him a little, since he was working aisle seven and I wanted some juice. They were out of my favorite, White Cran/Strawberry, so I had to settle for some strawberry-kiwi (also delicious, certainly). Rebecca saw me and came over (coincidentally, not purposely, because she was doing returns, and worked on her aisle seven returns while we talked), told me that she saw me when I was here the other night and she was on four zoning. I guess that's a good sign? I mean, if she thought I was a creepy bastard who didn't want me to talk to her at all, she wouldn't mention that she saw me? Go me, and all that. Anyway, we talked a bit. She's a vegetarian, which is cool. Sounds like she's been one for a while. She's "not sure" if she's taking classes this semester - I made a comment about her only having like two days left to decide, and she said she was definitely taking classes this summer. That made me feel a little better about my situation, that she's a little less likely to think less of me for being 25, living at home, working at Domino's, and still in school (that last one is actually a plus, basically. I think.)

Anyway, Nolan went off on one of his "Billy the Kid!!" things, even in front of Rebecca. "That's Billy the Kid!" He made some comment about me knowing Rebecca already - "You just know everyone, don't you, Billy the Kid!". Rebecca said "I don't know anyone" kind of quietly, but I don't think it was so quiet that she didn't want anyone to hear it. I ran into her again on the way out, we talked a little bit, she smiled a lot. It made me smile.

Don't you have somewhere to go?

So I know it's clichè, but what with time being an arbitrary concept and all, New Year's provides just as good a time to reflect as anything. A good time to look back at the last year, see where I am, where I'm going, what's coming up.

Let's start with what happened recently. I worked New Year's Eve, which isn't a big deal. I usually do - last year, the year before that, the year before that, but the year before that, I think I was with Suzie in Galveston. I remember three New Year's ago, when I got off from Sonic, was driving home, Mom called me from All Niter, her and Jerry were there, we sat on the patio and had breakfast. Lilie drove by. Good times. So anyway.

I spent this New Year's making pizzas. Luckily, I wasn't taking an order or anything when the ball dropped (which is my way of saying "Midnight struck"). Just kind of standing there. I was very aware of when it was. Bill and Chris were my closing drivers, but they were both out on runs. They were pretty much running nonstop 'til the end of the night. I got a few calls around midnight - Danielle called, that was awesome. Hadn't really talked to her or anything in quite a while. Danielle and Jenni both called, that was fun. Had a few drunks order some pizza in person, that's always fun. I think part of my aversion to drinking is how very, very much I hate talking to drunk people. I hear it's not so bad when you're also drunk. Whatever.

I went to Wal-Mart after work, picked up some juice and stuff. Of course, Rebecca was my cashier. Good times. She was smiling a lot. I'm not naive enough to think she was smiling because of me, but it was definitely at, and I'll take my victories where I can get them.

[Sidenote: I'm watching "Blonde Ambition" while typing this. Atrocious movie. Jessica Simpson's character is a country bumpkin stuck in the big city. She doesn't know how to ride a bike. I'll let that sink in a for a moment. At least Rachael Leigh Cook is in it. She's awesome. Also, apparently, she did the voice of Tifa Lockhart in most of the Final Fantasy adaptations, post-VII. Good stuff.]

Anyway, it really helped dispel all the bad vibes I got from her on Christmas Eve with Jenni. Moving on. I had to give Rose a ride home the next night, she needed to go to Wal-Mart that night. We spent about fifteen minutes in the hair care aisle, she needed some conditioner without certain chemicals in it. Or something, I don't know. I keep my head shaved. Whatever. We had to go through sporting goods for a thermos or something. For whatever reason, I picked up a baseball bat. I started carrying that around for a while. It's a guy thing. Whatever.

So we took the corner towards electronics, and she's standing there right next to the Guitar Hero demo. Long story short, she's watching electronics during lunch, and the other girl, the one playing very badly in training mode, was on lunch. I felt kind of weird holding on to the bat, but I went with it. Rose kind of took off, went to finish her shopping. The girl playing finished the song, realized the game probably wasn't for her. Rebecca and I talked a little while the other girl (she needs a name if I'm going to bring her up very many more times in this story; 'other girl' and 'that girl' is starting to get a little repetitive). She said something about her brother who 'has like, every video game system ever' and apparently doesn't like girls that much because they talk to much and prevent him from playing his games. Good times. She thinks he might be gay. Or something. She didn't want to play, because her eyes don't focus fast enough. She said something about the doctor telling her she needs to exercise her eyes more, and she's annoyed, because the last thing she wants is another doctor telling her she needs to exercise more. Or something.

[How the F did they get Rachael Leigh Cook for this piece of crap? It's awesomely tragic. Oh, crap, Willie Nelson. He must really like Jessica Simpson, or something.]

So she - that other girl - finishes, and asks Rebecca if she wants to play, so she turns to me and asks me if I want to. I hesitantly accepted. I went with 'Hit Me With Your Best Shot', because I know the song really well. I did 98%-ish. It was great, because my hands were sweaty. I'm a big, big guy, and I like to think I do some physically demanding things - I play racquetball, I play DDR. I sweat a lot during those times, but my hands stay dry. They don't sweat at all. Ever.

But they were sweating the whole time I played the song. I guess that means I was really, really nervous. Which I was. Which means I actually like her.

Crazy.

Moving on.

So I finished the song, put down the guitar, said something to the effect of "That's not really fair, 'cause I play this all the time.", picked up the baseball bat I set down by the demo unit, and walked off. I had no idea what was going on. I found Rose, and we went about our shopping. She asked me where the latex gloves were, so I went and asked Rebecca. We talked a bit.

Oh, I was still holding the baseball bat. It wouldn't be right without it.

We talked a little bit; she told me a story about her boyfriend. I'm still debating the point of the story. It could go any number of ways - maybe she was just making small talk (it was a funny story, after all), or just sharing about her New Year's Eve / life stuff, or, quite possibly,

[Major plot hole. This is what I don't get. If they want Jessica Simpson's character to be that idiot's secretary so they can manipulate her, why are they constantly sabotaging her plans? Wouldn't they want to help her and have her do well, so she would gain his trust and thus be a more valuable asset in their plan? I guess that's what I get for trying to actually follow the plot of a movie that makes fun of Norwegians for no real reason. It's not so much making fun of them, as it is randomly having them do karaoke - 'Baby Got Back', no less - in the most horrendous accents I've ever heard.]

[Oh gosh. Here comes the montage where the small-town girl grows accustomed to her big-city job, but turns her back on her small-town roots. I'm already looking forward to the moment of truth where she decides, momentously, to re-embrace her values.]

or, quite possibly, as a way to remind me that she has a boyfriend. (Of course, best-case is that she was reminding herself, because she was afraid she was forgetting. Probably not, but it's fun to dream.)

Moving on.

We got the gloves, we went home.

So yeah, that was fun.

Now, about reminiscing and stuff.

Let's start with work.

I started the New Year working at Wal-Mart. Literally - as usual, I was working that night. Worked there until early April, when Javi called me and asked me if I wanted to come back to Sonic. Ashley Hopkins lent a lot of credence to that argument, and I walked out. That was fun. What was really, really fun about that was that Ambra had started working there by that point, she was also working that night. Lots of freight, understaffed, all the greatest hits we know and love from working at Wal-Mart.

I started at Sonic a week later. It was, well, interesting. Ashley ended up quitting, so did Javi. I ended up working around seventy hours a week. I didn't mind the hours - one week, I had about ninety hours, that was a nice paycheck. Overall, it was a good turning point - allowed me to build a decent reserve really fast (I moved back home around the same time, worked out well). The problem I had at Sonic? Well, it was two-fold. First, as it often the case with crappy service jobs, everyone there hated working it. Now, the thing about these jobs is that the co-workers often make it bearable. That wasn't the case - they had really, really bad attitudes. I can name a few off the top of my head, but it's really not worth it. The second issue was Bubba. He was cool at first, until I got to know him. Not hiring people, not taking an active hand in his store, underordering, argh. I got sick of it.

Luckily, Sergio called from Domino's and asked me if I wanted to come be an assistant for him, as he had just gotten the store. I thought about it, but I was afraid. I hate big decisions; I seem to always mess them up. Of course, I felt pretty good about that one. I put in my two weeks at Sonic, walked out a week later. I've been working at Domino's ever since. Of course, my work history now goes Sonic - Domino's - Wal-Mart - Sonic - Domino's. Good stuff. There was a two day stint at CRI, which isn't really even worth mentioning (well, except for that).

So, yeah. Been working 40-50 (more like 45, not so much 50 anymore) hours a week there, 5-C five times a week.

There's work.

Living Situation.

Not much to talk about here. I was living at Les Chateaux, but I moved home. It does make me feel kind of a loser and all, being twenty-five, working at Domino's, being completely single, morbidly obese, good times. Of course, I'm working on all of those things. I'm twenty-five and don't have a degree, but I am back in school. I'm funding that with Domino's, and I'm working on my weight. Good stuff. Oh, and I pay rent.

[Holy crap, this movie sucks.]

Social:

HAHAHAHAHAHA. Not much to say here. Thankfully, Lilie is no longer a part of my life in any way. Passed her on Thanksgiving, didn't answer when she called. I still think about her occasionally, during depression spirals,

[This scene is actually humorous.]

but that's not really specific to her - that's more about her being the last person I was that close to, and her being such a major part of my life for so long. Comparatively speaking, of course.

So yeah, single and probably going to stay that way for a while. No real prospects or anything. I mean, I kind of have a thing for Rebecca,

[Extreme Sports Bonanza? I miss Rachael Leigh Cook pretending to be part of the marina group.]

Moving on.

but I'm not going to delude myself into thinking that anything's going to happen there.

[Now the running to find his true love and prevent a misunderstanding from becoming a tragedy. Gyp and Buddy could have written a more imaginative, if more cheese-oriented, screenplay.]

So what's in store for this year? School. Work. Getting in shape. Taking control of my life, maybe growing up a little (not too much, don't worry).

So, resolutions? Not sure. I'm cutting dairy almost entirely out of my diet, but that's not a resolution so much as it is a 'I don't want to feel like crap, I'm lactose intolerant' kind of thing. I'm going to be back in school, but that's too much of a thing that's like, interwoven into your life to be a New Year's Resolution. The same goes for health things. I'll get back to you on that one.

They can't hurt you now

Quick updates.

I think I might have adult-onset Lactose Intolerance. Probably not, kinda far out there, but worth a thought. I've had, well, issues after both big birthday dinners, both cheese-heavy, and more or less, for the last two weeks. Mom suggested eating really soft foods - rice and bananas, mainly. Stopped by Wal-Mart after work, bought six pounds of bananas (since I can't eat pizza at work right now). Ran into Rebecca, talked briefly. She mentioned that she was covered in flour; I, like an idiot, didn't ask her why. Ah, well, it's a guaranteed conversation starter next time I see her.

I was really, really depressed for a while about a week ago. I'm basically over it, but it was weird. I don't know why, there wasn't any trigger, no recurring theme, nothing. Good times.

Work's going to be interesting; we're getting Pulse next week, which is this great new snazzy PoS (Point of Sales, not the other one) system that's supposed to really just be the bees' knees. Or something like that. Speaking of which, Jenn, the training director, is an idiot. In an email sent to the company regarding the transition to Pulse, she meant to say "Thank you for your patience." Of course, she went the wrong way on the patience/patients homophones, and tried to write patients. That would have been pretty bad, kinda dumb. Of course, she had to make it worse. She misspelled patients "paitents". It was awesome.

So here it comes, the sound of drums

I just had a crazy-ass dream. We were doing some review for some college exam, and the last page had us identifying pictures of porn stars for extra credit. Really, really weird. What was funny about it was that the file names appeared above the pictures, making some of them really easy. We didn't have much faith in the teacher, so we were fairly certain that she'd use the same page for the actual exam, which gave me the humorous, if extremely dirty, image of these girls I went to school with trying to identify these pictures of porn stars so they could get extra credit.

Oh, and someone else was going to sue the teacher for this stunt.

All in all, weird dream.

Oh, and I saw Rebecca last night while shopping at Wal-Mart. I went from HBA to stationary to get a new day planner, and as I turned the corner, she was right there, dealing with returns in the area. I totally froze for a second, until she said "Hi". We talked sporadically as she worked the area and I shopped, until she was called to go man the grocery-side door. Talked to her again briefly on the way out.

Every time they turn the lights down, just wanna go the extra mile for you

Wow, it's been almost two months, maybe more, since I've posted anything. I post sporadically on MySpace, but I can't go nearly as in-depth there, partially because I don't like people I'm writing about to read it, especially if it's negative.

Let's see... work. It's a lot of fun. *So* much better than Sonic, Wal-Mart too. Kinda. The nice thing about Wal-Mart was the total lack of having to deal with customers, other than the occasional "Where do you guys have marshmallows?", and the hours were the best of any job I've had so far.

Anyway.

I'm registered for school, starting in '08. Three classes - Discrete I, Chem I, and Assembly Language. The first one is a funny story - I've already got credit for Discrete II, but they won't give me a blanket waiver for I, and it's an easy 'A'. Chem I, I've already wasted two tries on. It's going to be an annoying class, since it's probably going to be almost entirely freshmen and sophomores. And, of course, Assembly Language. No idea what's going to happen there. Thanks to Sonic and those 70 hours weeks, I was able to pay for this semester, including the ridiculous "You suck at life and are taking this class for the third time" fee. I mean, I understand why, and I'm not complaining about it, just how big it was. But I'm the one who fucked up, so I can live with it. Moving on.

Been playing a TON of Guitar Hero lately, picked up parts III and Rock the 80's. I tried Rock Band a few times at Wal-Mart, the drum-set is AWESOME. If I had a ps3 or 360, I'd buy it right now, but I don't, so I'm not. They're coming out with it for the ps2 later, and the Guitar Hero guitars work with it, so I might just buy the game for the new songs and stuff, wait 'til later to pick up the drums. Still playing WoW.

Personal life... not so much. Ran into Rebecca working at Wal-Mart, asked her out. She said she already had a boyfriend, that before that, she was dating a jerk. So she definitely knows I'm interested, and I have a tendency to end up at Wal-Mart late at night when she's working, so I'll see her from time to time, I'm sure. But I'm writing her off as a prospect, though I'd still take her out if the oppurtunity presented itself. Speaking of girls, I passed Lilie on the way to Bambi's today. She called me right afterwards, but I didn't answer. Just didn't feel like talking to her. Left a voice mail, haven't responded yet, not sure if I'm going to. She's just not a part of my life anymore, and it's her choice.

Then there's Beth, Ashley and Alaire's friend. Bill's dating Alaire now, I mentioned that I think Beth's the hottest of the three; he mentioned it to her via Alaire. Her response? "Well, I do need to get laid. Josh, who used to work with me, tells me she likes big guys. Whatever. Probably won't pursue that one either. I think I'm regressing - I didn't have any problems pursuing Lilie, but then again, she kind of threw herself at me. Sort of.

I'm not going to go into a huge rant about how basically every girlfriend I've ever been involved with has thrown herself at me, in one way or another.

Moving on.

Turned 25 last week, I'm officially old now.
