The club will be shaking, there we'll be waiting, 'cause I don't play nice, pt 2

Didn't expect to end that last post so abruptly, but I had to go. I'm actually writing this post on Sesami, the computer in the living room whose output is the TV, which means it's really, really hard to read the text. IF this post has a lot of spelling and punctuation errors, that's why. Get over it.

JD came over last night and we watched some MST3K, and I'm *still* copying over his collection. He has all of them. All 199. I've got the majority copied over, but the lest set is a huge pain in the ass, because neither David's nor my computer's DVD drives will read about 10 of the DVDs he has, but the media center will, so I have to do it all from across the room. Meh, could be worse. A lot worse. Went over for breakfast tacos at Mom's house earlier, that was cool. She keeps sending stuff my way, as she's adjusting cooking for two instead of three or four. Saw Lilie in her new car (the Shiny; he doesn't have a name yet) delivering pizza. Things are going very well with her right now, I'm really happy with where we are. Where we are now, which is different from where we were the last time we saw each other (it makes sense, trust me).

Work's been hell lately. Had two 50+ weeks in a row. This week, at least I have Sunday off, though I did have to work 6 am to 4 pm yesterday to get it. I originally asked for last night and today off because I thought Terri was going to be in town; it's probably just as well that she's not. Long story. But I'm enjoying the heck out of my day off. Going to dinner later with the family 'cause Janelle's leaving on Tuesday for a month and a day. David mounted the speakers yesterday (we were going to do it together, but I fell asleep and I guess he didn't feel like waiting until I woke up.) It looks *really* cool. I can't wait to watch something that takes full advantage of the 5.1 format. But back to work. Lacey just quit - she walked out Friday night about 10:30; Dave's *real* pissed - he said he doesn't want her on the lot at all, not even as a customer. Which I have no problem with, I never liked Lacey. Emily's quitting too - she put in her two weeks, but Dave's just taking her off the schedule now, as people who do that tend to not show up and he'd rather just cover his ass. I hear Allison is about to leave as well. I'm glad Emily and Lacey are leaving, though Allison leaving makes me sad. A little. She's changed a lot lately. Kristen commeted on it as well when she came over to check the place out. Krystle got her job back and is going to stay, which is good. Flaky idiot though she may be, I prefer having her on the shift.

Time for a crew rundown. Sort of. Jennifer C is really cool - she came over and hung out with David and I the other day. We watched Euro Trip, then ran errands. That was fun. Got to know her a lot better. She's a lot weirder than she lets on. WHich is cool. Lala *did* call me on Wednesday to go floating, but didn't leave a message, and her phone was turned to private, so I couldn't call back. IT was annoying ot miss out on, but I'll live. Most of the other carhops don't like Stacy 'cause they think she's a bitch. I don't disagree, but I don't have the same reaction. I think she's really cool, bitch and all. The other night, she came up to me and asked me if I could teach her how to skate. We spent about half an hour after close on the lot, trying to teach her. Didn't go very well. I think she's going to try to get some blades, or talk to Dave about just fountaining. Either of those would be cool; I don't want her to leave. Jill and Krystie have finally settled into things; nothing either way on them. Josh N is out, finally. I hated that guy. THe other Josh is still here; I don't think he'll be leaving any time soon. I can work with him without problem, I just don't ilke him. Dave can kiss my ass, but I refuse to be forced to like my coworkers. Being able to work with them is enough.

Lilie hasn't been playing WoW much lately, though she did finally get Suchevane to 60. Jarrod and I are going to jump on the next PVP server and have Horde characters; David's going to join us, probably one of his friends as well. We might also have Alliance characters on David's server. Possibly; that'd be cool too. I've been having a lot of fun as Schlemilly, my gnomish mage. Pretty much have her spec down, which is a first.

Finally got Carrie's letter mailed, which should surprise her when she gets it. Her birthday is coming up soon, and I'm going to send her some flowers. That should surprise the crap out of her, which will be cool. I don't know if she still plans on coming down at some point, but I hope so. I haven't seen her in over two years. Imagine - someone to actually play DDR with. What a concept. Speaking of which, Rose is really enjoying living in FLorida. Her roommates are wither 'princesses' or 'villians', neatly segmented based on the characters they tend to like in Disney movies (She's a villian). She really wants me to come visit, but I don't know if Chelsea is up for another cross-counry trip. I'm thinking about it, though. I could visit Terri and Carrie as well while I'm over there; maybe even Aunt Janet and Uncle Barney as well. Hell, I"m sure I can find a decent number of reasons to go, as if the ones I have aren't enough already.

So... we finally finished season 1 of B5. We're 1/5th of the way done. Wow. Of course, given recent events, this one might be delayed, or dragged out further, or something. I don't know. We have a few other marathons we're also going to do.

  • Red vs. Blue

  • We could probably do this one in one night, definitely in two. We've both seen all of it extensively, though. Having Lilie over so she could finally watch it (though she doesn't seem to be able to go more than three episodes without falling asleep) is the main reason for this one.

  • Star Wars IV - VI

  • To remind ourselves what Episode III was supposed to be transiitiong *to*, and to remember how fucking AWESOME they were. And are.

  • MST3k

  • Don't konw about this one. It'd be ever longer than the B5 one... almost twice as many episodes, and each episode is roughly 2x as long. We're talking 20,000 minutes of viewing. Damn. Well over 300 hours, or ~ 2 1/2 days *straight*. Well, more than that - I did a ton of rounding. I'm tired, leave me alone. Given recent events, though, this one, at least in parts, is more likely, though. And I don't mean JD letting me borrow his entire collection, though that does help.

THis has been a fairly thourough post, so I think I'm going to end it here. Though it is fairly comfortable typing in the living room recliner.

The club will be shaking, there we'll be waiting, 'cause I don't play nice

So I've adjusted to life in the new place fairly well. Haven't really gotten homesick or anything yet, but to be fair, home is still less than ten minutes away. David and I seem to be doing fine as roommates thus far. No issues so far. In fact, I just asked him if we had had any yet. Got it basically set up like we want. I still have some work to do on my room and bathroom, but the living room and command center are all set up - David just finished mounting the speakers for the Dolby Surround Sound 5.1 setup he has. I was supposed to help, but I was quite asleep from a 10 hour shift that started at six this morning. Got a good three hour nap.

Janelle graduated from High School. The ceremony was very nice. Britney Posey was Valedictorian; Janelle, Saludatorian.

JD and Janelle are here, so we're doing MST3K. More later.

You may know him as SeƱor El Roboto

First off, here's a picture of Lilie from EQFaces.com:

She says it's the last recent, decent picture taken of her. She still has long hair, though. Now, it's pretty short, and part is died this brownish-orange color. Very cute.

So yeah, I went over there Tuesday night. It was like... 1:30 am? Lilie and I were playing WoW, and I made a RvB reference. "Now I'm thinking about kittens... kittens covered in spikes!" and that piqued her interest. She mentioned that I hadn't ever brought that over to watch, I responded that she had never asked, and she said, "I'm asking now."

So I went over there. She told me she'd been really restless and bored lately. I popped in the RvB DVD... and it didn't work. Or rather, the sound didn't work. Sort of. She has a mono output on her TV, except it was trying to force Stereo output, so only one channel was coming out. Well, the other one was as well, but you could barely hear it. Oddness. We sort of watched some MST3K, but I may have chosen some bad things to start off with - the Summer Blockbuster Awards special. I'm going to burn Puma Man to DVD, which is such a hilarious episode... it was a tough choice - Puma Man, Time Chasers, Overdrawn at the Memory Bank, Laserblast, Hobgoblins, Angel's Revenge, Radar Secret Service, Riding with Death, Space Mutiny, Agent from H.A.R.M., The Final Sacrifice... any one of those would be a great episode. We'll see how she likes Puma Man.

Anyhoo, we had some horseplay too. Lilie started tickling me, which is always fun, if a little annoying, since there's not a whole lot I can do in defense. Well, other than curl up in a fetal position and cry. Not really. She's just not ticklish at all, so I usually just end up holding both her hands down so she can't. Shelley joined in, which is okay, 'cause she's ticklish, so I do sort of have a defense against her. It's just harder to make sure you don't accidentally hurt someone when it's two on one. Case in point, I was scooting across the floor, and I accidentally knee-dropped Lilie's foot. Hurt her really bad, but it's almost healed. She bit me on the upper forearm, which has left this incredible bruise. So Shelley eventually was going to bed, so we came back over here to watch RvB. By this time, it was like 4 am. Gyp started barking when Lilie showed up, but we quieted him down. So we were lying in my bed, watching RvB. And we fell asleep.

We woke up when my mom cracked the door open and yelled "7:30"! Luckily, she didn't notice Lilie lying there. Or if she did, she didn't say anything. Though, she would have said something by now. I can't describe how nice it felt to wake up next to Lilie in a nice warm bed... almost like old times.

Anyway.

She asked me to take her home *RIGHT NOW*, but I managed to convince her to wait until mom left. So, that was fun. Got her home okay, and Shelley hadn't even woken up yet, so she won't know. I don't know why Lilie was so worried about that, unless she just doesn't want Shelley thinking there's something going on between us, which there isn't. Went back over that night (Wednesday). I think. Wait, yeah. She called me and asked me to come over and help her set up her UI add-ons, 'cause I had shown her the suite that I use the night before, when she came over to my house. So, I went over there, brought her some KFC, and helped her. She didn't really need any, other than moving everything to the right directory. I feel proud, 'cause she's moved away from Cosmos. One more down in my never-ending fight to get people to stop using Cosmos.

Thursday, I opened. That was fun. Nothing major, though Dave did make a joke about me having sex with my mother, and everyone caught it. I wanted to smack him.

Went to play D&D that night. I think. Or was it Wednesday night? I don't really remember. Day's not important, anyway. Yeah, I think it was Thursday night.

Anyway.

Finally got to try out my new Elven Archer in combat; he got killed the second round. I was going to leave, when Matt pulled me aside and told me that this was all just Luke's dream. I didn't know why at the time, but I left anyway. I wasn't upset about being killed, especially since it wasn't really happening anyway, and I thought that was actually a neat idea - he did drop a hint or two about it during the combat. Later, I realized I was having a SaD attack. I don't really know if that's what I have, or just something similiar, but it seems to fit, and it's shorter than having to explain it every time. I kind of went into a negative emotion spiral after that. Later, when telling Lilie about this, she said that she hoped she wasn't part of it.

Sorry.

I mean, she wasn't really the cause of it, but she's gonna be part of 'em now. Major factor, in fact.

Anyway.

So last night, Lilie and I were gonna do dinner and a movie. Or rent one, or come back here and watch RvB. We went to Chili's, had a great time. She's much more upbeat lately, and talks a lot. I like it when she talks a lot - it's easier to learn things about her, to get to know her. She told me I over-analyze everything, even more than she does, and take it all to be the worst case possible. There's a very simple reason for that - I'm incredibly insecure. Anyway, we had a very nice dinner, then headed back to my place to watch RvB. On the way home, she said something along the lines of "I'd like to be back before it's too terribly late, say, before midnight?" At that point, I let her know it was approximately a quarter 'til. So I took her home. I had my arm around her, and she asked if I needed it back. I replied, "No, I learned how to drive with my left arm a long time ago." and laughed a little. She was like, "I don't want to know." "No, you don't." "I was being serious." "So was I. I wasn't going to say anything."

That got her really, really upest. She said something about how me confirming it meant it was something she didn't want know about or something. Yeah, probably a bad idea on my part. So things got really quiet after that. I almost started crying - more on that later (later post). She called me on being so quiet, and I didn't really have anything to say. That's what I do when I screw up, or upset someone, or things along those lines. I get afraid to say anything else, 'cause I usually don't know what to say anyway, so I just get really quiet. Anyway, she said she might come over sometime today before work to hang out. The insecure part of me (which is running very strong right now) is keeping me from getting my hopes up.

So, that's the latest recap. I still have some posts to make:
  • Autumn Weave guild drama
  • My character list, planned characters, and UI mods
  • Analyzation of the Lilie situation (pfft.)
  • The resurgance of BitTorrent
  • Why people are idiots

Current music: Utada Hikaru, Final Distance
Current Modd: Anxious, restless

Oh, Dave just called to see if I wanted to work Sunday day or night. Why? WHy on Earth would he ask me that?

In the not too distant future, next Sunday AD

It all started when SuprNova went down. That didn't bother me that much, since I didn't frequent SN that often. I mainly used DonVito (which then became Bi-Torrent). They had excellent categorical listings. But my main use was MySpleen.net, which offered copyrighted materials, but mainly stuff you couldn't find anywhere else. Rocko's Modern Life is a great example - it was a 4 season cartoon that was terrific. Of course, they never show it on TV anymore - even when the guide says it's supposed to be RML, it's something else. That, and you can't buy it on DVD. I know myself, along with a lot of other RML fans I've spoken too, would love to be able to buy it on DVD. But they're not selling it - sure, you can get Ren & Stimpy, but not a quality cartoon like RML. That's the frustrating thing - yes, it's copyright infringment, but it's not like they're losing any revenue over it. The same goes for MST3K - BBI has *always* encouraged tape trading amongst fans (to the point of putting "And remember -keep circulating the tapes" at the end of episodes), and this is simply the logical extension thereof. Take DAP - they only share the tapes that aren't available by any other means - DVD sales by Rhino being the primary means. It's like they're saying "Ha ha ha, no one's allowed to watch this! Even if you're willing to pay for it!"

2004-10-12

Do I stress you out? My sweater's on backwards and inside-out.

And now for something completely different.

Or not. It'll probably just be more of the same.

Analysis time.

So I called Lilie on Sunday after work to ask her what was up. I'm not really one to just listen to someone saying something about someone else saying something. I'll ask the person in question (the first one) what they said and what they meant, if I care. Which I really do, in this case.

So I called her and asked her about it. She said, well, it's kind of confusing what she said. She said that yes, she does just want to be friends, but seemed to imply that she wanted to start there and 'see what happens'. Now, I'm not dumb - I know that that usually means they just want to be friends and they're trying not to hurt you. I initially thought that as well with Lilie, and I've not entirely moved from that position. It made several things make more sense - why she seemed somewhat hesitant to kiss (though that may still be just me), among other things.

I went by Sonic today with Michael to grab a drink, and Shelley was there. We talked briefly; she said that Lilie and her had hung out last night and were going to do so again. She also said that she was "willing to give it a shot", and what more could I want? Which is confusing, in light of what Lilie said Sunday.

So I'm going to try do something I've never been terribly good at doing. I'm going to stop thinking so hard about it, stop analyzing everything. Those who've known me for long enough (no one) will remember that I tried to do something similiar with Zara about three years ago, to no avail. Of course, there's one key difference here. Zara had no interest in me whatsoever, and barely tolerated me as a friend, and a blind wombat 100 miles away could tell, whereas I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say that Lilie may be, at least somewhat slightly interested in me. So I don't know, nor will I attempt to do so until such time that it's obvious and apparent without over-analyzing everything.

So we're just friends now, and if something happens, something happens. If not, cool - friends are hard enough to come by as it is. Though I'll admit I was in a world of hurt for about a day or so between talking to Lilie and realizing all of this. It wasn't the rejection that hurt - I mean, it *was*; rejection always hurts - but that it had caught me so off-guard. I had lowered my defenses completely and was blind-sided. It was just funny that the one time I let myself believe, that I listened to everyone else, that a girl was interested in me and wanted to move foward, it wasn't true. Well, not really. There's a small chance it will still happen, and while I might look foward to such an occurence with great anticipation, I'm not counting on it. I'm really going to try hard to just sit back and enjoy the ride.

I really wish Mindy would call. If nothing else, and this is at the very least, it'd be good to talk to her and possibly hang out with her a little. A hug? That'd be grand. I hope she didn't think I wasn't interested based on my actions when we talked. I was really, really tired and was still in a state of shock at seeing her again, especially with her being all grown up and all. Someone called me today while I was in Probability, but I couldn't take it for obvious reasons. They didn't leave a message, and the number said "Private Number". Normally, it's Luke when it does that, but I called and it wasn't him. I think he said something to the effect that he's finally changed his phone so it doesn't do that anymore. I called the people most likely to call me - Mom, Janelle, Lilie, etc., but it wasn't any of them - nor did I think it would be. There's a small chance it was Caleb; I'll find out the next time I talk to him. I'll also let him know to stop calling. I really have no interest in talking to him anymore. I'm not mad or anything, I'm just severing ties. So I think it was either Caleb or Mindy. I don't really know why I think that, it's just a feeling. And I'm usually wrong about these kinds of things, so we'll see. But if it was her, I hope she'll call again.

So I did call Lilie today, supposedly to ask her if she had called earlier. I knew it wasn' t her, but it provided a decent excuse for calling. I'm fairly awkward on the phone - not that I'm not in person, but silence is more bearable in person, I think. We talked a little; I told her I didn't hate her or anything and hoped to still hang out and what-not. She's going to be there Thursday at Dragon's Lair, and it sounds like we'll be going to fifty-cent movie night at Showplace again. They have both The Village and Spider-Man 2. So that'll be fun. Dave's still on vacation or whereever he went, so work won't be very bad at all tomorrow. I've definitely got a handle on dong the deposit, which means it probably won't be *that* long before I'm completely running a shift. We'll see how that goes.

2004-03-23

Well, I finally got my shirt. Two of 'em, in fact.

2004-02-06

Well, I sent the email. No response yet; I'm not exactly expecting one, but I think one might come. Not sure on that one.

Day 1: No real effects yet. No headaches or cravings, or anything like that. Played some DDR; work 11 hours tomorrow.

MST3K: Got a 264 CD holder; transferred all my episodes and movies currently on CD, with formatting. I've begun dumping.

2004-01-23

Well, my MST3K stuff came yesterday. That's cool.

What's not, cool, though:

So my loan doesn't transfer; I have to get one through ACC. Fair enough; I updated my FASFA, and sent an email to the financial aid office, asking what I could do while I wait for it to be processed. They sent me back a list, with the usual, but said it would take FOUR TO SIX WEEKS TO PROCESS. Shit. Tuition payments are due.. the 4th or so. SWT fucked me over, because I didn't get the letter from them until six days ago. It's dated December 18th!! That's absurd. I mean, granted, the root of all of this is my fault, totally, but I'm trying to salvage the situation as best I can. And they definitely aren't helping. Well, I got called in early, so I'll be working 3 - 10 tonight; I'm probably going to go play DDR after that. Working tomorrow and Sunday morning, and there's gonna be some hot D&D action tomorrow night at Jarrod's; that should be fun. But this is really pissing me off. I'm not sure what I can do now.

Okay, she didn't really send me away. She had a feeling something bad was going to happen, and didn't want me there. So we're okay. She had an okay birthday, as I understand it. I still want to take her out for sushi sometime. Finally got an excuse to cut ties with Jarrod (she really just set him up to trip himself up, and he did. Hard. Those wacky, sperm-filled guys.) She dyed her hair this really really dark red color; it looks pretty. And she keeps talking about cutting her hair. Interesting... I've always favored longer hair on girls, but I've seen a few pictures of her with short hair, and it's still super cute. She left her pentacle necklace here, since people think the wrong things when she wears it at Gary; I'm going to wear it - well, not at home or with family, but at school and DDR and that kind of thing.

Met with Link. He seemed... impressed. And rightly so. Registration is a week from today; things are going to work out, I think. Sounds like I might be able to take some of my classes Distance Learning

[OUCH!! "Tonight on Tough Crowd... blah blah blah... we'll discuss the new trend, "Ball Waxing". Um, no.]

which is good, because the less I have to drive to Austin, the better. Argh. I missed the State of the Union address - I had no idea it was tonight. I don't like politics, but I LOVE comedy - and between Bush and the ridiculous Democrat run-off we've got going on, this race is definitely giving me enough comedy to make it worth watching. It's weird - now that Comedy Central lost SNL, I really haven't watched that much TV anymore - sure, E! got SNL, but they only show 2 episodes a day. So I've really only been watching The Daily Show and the occasional movie on HBO.

Yeah, I really like Suzie.

And I'm lovin' this new fan/light set up. It's so cool! And by cool, I mean thermally speaking.

But my MST3K stuff still hasn't arrived. Barb said it shipped Friday, so I think it should be here sometime this week.

I need to get ToJH into an acceptable alpha state.
