Couple things to write about. Crazy dreams, talking to Rebecca - you know, nothing substantial.
This dream I had just recently, woke up a few hours ago. It's fading really, really quickly, but one part stands out. I had a crazy swordfight with some weird French dude in the house. I mean, real swordfighting with epees that could take an ear off. I ended up beating him when I grabbed a spatula and used it as an off-hand weapon and beat the crap out of it while I used my epee to counter his (thanks Jarrod!).
That dream was pretty neat.
Then I had this other dream a few days ago. I wanted to write about it as soon as I woke up so I could get all of it, but I didn't get around to it. Basically, this girl was going to make a video of her doing some cool dive or something into her big pool, but she hit her head on the water or something, so she started sinking straight down and was going to drown. Both her father and I jumped in to save her, but I got down and brought her up before she died or anything. We had already been friends or something, so we went to hang out at her (very large) place. We had to swim across a bay or osmething to get there, that was cool. Oh, and her servants and family really only spoke Italian, and I tried stumbling through some stuff. Good times.
Been on a huge Vanessa Carlton kick lately, her last album is simply amazing.
So yeah.
Oh!
Rebecca.
Rose *and* Matt both wanted to go to Wal-Mart last night; I was only too happy to oblige. She was working the door. Overnight, that's pretty boring. Anyway, I didn't really make it any further into the store than that. Not necessary. We talked for twenty minutes or so. I keep thinking 'Maybe I should excuse myself and leave her alone?', but I don't think that was ever an issue. It's such a weird line I'm trying to walk - I'm pretty sure she knows I like her (she said as much when I ASKED HER OUT), and I don't want her to think that one little rejection will destroy my interest - I'm not nearly so fickle - but I don't want to come off so strong.
Actually, that last sentence is a complete lie. I don't put nearly that much thought into it. My thought process is more like "OHGODOHGODOHGODOHGODOHGODOHGODOHGODDON'TBEACREEPYBASTARDOHGODOHGODOHGODOHGOD". I think that's where the deer-in-headlights comes from. I guess I don't do so well when my inner monologue is freaking out. Whatever.
So yeah, we talked. Notable things - she asked me both (a) if I have a girlfriend and (b) if I live alone. Now certainly, I'm not reading *too* much into things like that - she's just making conversation, being friendly, etc. However, I don't think those are things you might ask someone you think is a creepy bastard who you really don't want to deal with anymore.
I hope.
Anyway, yeah, we talked for like twenty minutes. She said I hadn't formally introduced myself, and she wouldn't have known my name if it wasn't for Suzie (not my ex, but one of the other cashiers), though I swear that one time, she had to bring my food out to me 'cause I ordered a burger at like 7 am, and I asked her her name, and she told me, and she asked me my name, and I told her), but yeah. I should have just taken the opportunity to say "Hi! My name's Billy, and it's my great pleasure to meet you." Of course, I didn't do that. I instead argued with her (!), citing that occurrence. She didn't remember it, which isn't terribly surprising - "Are you sure that it wasn't someone else at Jack in the Box?" - was one of my favorite lines from that conversation.
Of course, that does point at a huge psychological flaw I seem to have. I enjoy being right. I'll argue about it when I think I am, even if it does no good even if I win. Case in point: I could have just apologized, taken the chance to introduce myself then and there, and it would have been pretty cool. But did I? Nope. Argued (!) about it. I mean, gah. Little things like that, I think I should work on a bit.
So anyway. We talked.
Went to class today, spent a while cleaning up my truck, finally put the seat cover on the new seat. Emptied an entire bottle of Febreeze on it to get the smell out. Went ahead and washed the truck, since I was already there. Good times.

'Cause I found some kind of fairy tale
Life's pretty good right now.
Work's been interesting. Q, our new GM, has finally moved down to San Marcos and is going to be opening five days a week, moving Bill back to sharing the closing shifts with me. As it should be, and all that. I'm getting my near-50 hours a week, so my paychecks are pretty decent right now - not nearly the ones from Sonic when I was getting 70+, but nothing to sneeze at either. I did take off three days this week - Tuesday through Thursday, so I can rest and do stuff and generally enjoy life. Good times.
I was off on Valentine's Day, and I was going to take Mom out for dinner, since her and Billy had just broken up. I stopped by work to turn in my new insurance; they were somewhere between forty and fifty pies down. That was... well, crazy. Trey and Michelle were there, but I couldn't see how they managed to get that far down. I love Bill to death, but I wonder sometimes. Anyway. I was in my pajama pants, a t-shirt, and wearing sandals (yes, I was wearing pajama pants at seven pm. I had gone to sleep after class, having closed the night before and staying up for my eight o'clock class), but I threw on an apron, a hat, washed my hands and arms thoroughly, and jumped in. Two hours later, things were finally calming down. I hate nights like that - not because I mind having to work really hard, or that I was annoyed having to help out on my day off or anything, but because we gave a lot of people terrible service. I've taken to referring to it as the 'Valentine's Day Massacre', which I think sounds neat. I'm trying to remember if there was actually a V-Day massacre, or I'm thinking of another day. Either way. Bill and Q both thought it would be slow on V-Day, but Stan seemed to think we should have anticipated the high volume better.
They decided to do a 3.99 medium 1-topping carryout special, open to close, all this week, ending Thursday night at close. Interesting choice. It did boost sales above last year (the stated goal behind this) for a lot of stores - not ours, of course. Despite doing 2066, we were still down almost six hundred dollars from last year. Of course, we're down over twelve thousand for the period - second on an absolute level (one store is down seventeen!), and not doing *that* bad on a percentage level.
Other than that, work's been pretty much the same lately. Been on a huge Vanessa Carlton kick lately. Not sure why, but I keep queuing up her stuff to listen to. I mean, I like some contemporary singer-songwriters, at least the commercially successfully ones that I don't have to dig too deep to find - Vanessa Carlton, Michelle Branch, Jewel, being the three that come readily to mind. But Vanessa's stuff especially has really been resonating with me lately. In fact, I might (a) change my profile song to reflect that and (b) my ringtone. It's been 'Boyfriend' by Ashlee Simpson basically since I started importing mp3s, and it might be time for a change. We'll see.
I bought the drums for Rock Band. Holy crap, that's fun. I mean, crazy fun. Michelle, of course, made the snarky comment about learning to play a real instrument, instead of pretending to play a fake one, but whatever. I can learn this one in five minutes, don't have to buy an expensive drum set, and can play it along with my friends playing their fake instruments. Besides, I did play trombone for seven years, so it's not like I'm musically illiterate or something. Anyway, lots of fun. I'm working out how to get Matt and Cullen and Ambra and Rose all together for some group fun. As for the drums, I'm still having coordination issues, especially with the kick drum, but I'm quickly getting better.
School's going well. Took my second chemistry test this morning, have my first discrete test on Thursday. Good times. Still haven't talked to anybody in any of my classes or anything, still working on that one.
I talked to Rebecca last night at Wal-Mart, that was cool. She asked me if I was avoiding her on Thursday (V-Day) or something, I told her that no, I was just anxious to get home and play drums, and that Rose wasn't feeling well, so we didn't want to dilly-dally (didn't manage to work that in there, or anything). She was all, "Oh, 'cause I wanted to wish you a happy Valentine's Day." That was awesome. We talked about stuff. I told her what I ended up doing on Valentine's Day, learned that the guy she's dating right now is only her second boyfriend. And, of course, today. Josh and I played our usual two hours of racquetball, I took the set 4-2 (putting our total record at something like 12-3 or thereabouts). Anyway. After dropping him off at the store, I went to the bank to deposit my paycheck. The first three or four lanes had a car at the kiosk, but the next one was both open and empty, so I pulled in there and started filling out my deposit slip. I glanced over at the car next to me, and lo and behold, she was sitting in the passenger set. Holy crap! She was earing like a pink shirt. It was the first time I'd seen her outside of her current place of employment. She definitely saw me too, but she didn't really openly acknowledge me or anything, leading me to draw one of a few conclusions. (A) She could have been with her boyfriend, and didn't really feel like explaining who I was ("Him? Oh, he's this guy that's had a crush on me for like two years; he comes by Wal-Mart a lot just 'cause I work there and we've started talking a little bit more each time. Basically, just some guy.") (B) Boyfriend might be a little possessive? (C) Regardless of who she was wiht, she just really didn't want to deal with me outside of work at all, perhaps fearing I'm now following her around or something (like I know what other kind of vehicle she might be riding around in? That would be scary.)
But I had this huge grin on my face as I sat there filling out my stuff, with her right there. I didn't really turn back or anything, because I was following her lead, regardless of the reason. They left fairly soon, but it was awesome.
Anyway.

There's no way back
So once again, I've been introduced to a popular (for lack of a better term) artist by a very roundabout path. First, it was Evanescence. I'd heard of them, but only as a name of a band, didn't know what they played, had never heard any of their stuff, whatever. So I was downloading stuff, and came across a dance remix of My Immortal. Yeah, kind of a weird song to remix, but whatever. Eventually, I got interested in the song, so I tracked down the original. Found a complete discography - they use that song a lot. I mean, it's on my master playlist something like seven times.
More recently, I was checking out Divide and Kreate's homepage. Awesome stuff - takes vocals from one song, background music from another. Most of them turn out really well, often as good if not better than the original. So there was one song, "I'm Talking About L.O.V.E.", which features a Van Halen guitar backing from a similarly named song, and the vocals from some girl. I eventually checked it out, and sure enough, it was Ashlee Simpson, of Jessica Simpson's little sister fame. I originally hated her, but that wasn't based on anything, other than just, hey, it's Ashlee Simpson. But I've downloaded both her albums, and they're, well, alright. I wouldn't really call it a guilty pleasure, since I've always liked girly bubblegum pop.
This is also where I found Lily Allen, one of whose songs I posted earlier - it wasn't necessarily directed at anybody - I mean, it could have been at Lilie, like a year ago, but not anymore - I just like the song. And the whole thing changes so much when you change the backgrounds. Good stuff.

Soon as You Get Over [Her], Your Light will Truly Shine
Two things that have occured to me in the past half hour.
1) I have no angry music. I have no music that I can put on and turn up really loud when I'm angry, and have it reflect my mood. I guess that's one of the problems with having a primarily dance/pop playlist.
2) My graphics engine could barely handle a MuD, let alone UO, or heaven forbid, WoW.

It's not my thing to stand here and pose for some William Tell
Well, I'm in the middle of a CD burning marathon, so Iim also using the time to catch up on what's been going on.
So that was Saturday. It sucked. Well, as much as spending like four or five hours with Lilie can suck. Which isn't much.
So Sunday. Halloween. Fun. I finished cleaning my room, and mowed the lawn. Janelle went to a Halo-ween party. Yes, you read that right. Say it out loud - it's kinda funny.
I didn't do much before going to work. Well, I went over to Shelley's, were Lilie already was. She (Shelley) was dressed as a prostitute. Well, a space prostitute. Or something like that. I took some pictures (my next post will be another massive picture dump, with pictures from NexLevel, NexLevel Saturday night, and work Sunday. Plus a few assorted goodies). They were going to head over to Lilie's, so Shelley changed into something slighly more appropriate, then changed again into something slightly more appropriate. We hung out a little bit, then I had to leave to go get Freddie, while they left to go to Lilie's.
Picked up Freddie, then went to work. I put on my costume before heading in, so I got the full effect when I went in. I won't say much about people's costumes, 'cause those will all be covered in the picture post coming up. Ray told me about some fun things - apparently, Rudy had caused a problem when he changed the time for Daylight Savings Time, and things were all screwy. Not only could we not get shift data, but someone (me) had to call Order-Matic after closing and have them walk that person (me) through fixing the stuff. So that was fun.
The actual shift wasn't too bad. I had a pretty good crew - Cooks: Freddie, Pedro, Thomas R, Andrew, and one more (I think). Fountains: Kenny and Ben; Carhops: Lacy, Megan, Adam V, and Kristen T (she left early though). Kristen and I get along really well - we're both really sarcastic and understand each other. She's probably one of my favorite people to work with, both in terms of work and as a person. We did get a few major rushes, and people go apeshit over the 50 cent corn dogs (there was an order for 25 right when I got there). All told, we went through about 11 cases (660 corndogs). Well, that's including Saturday night and Sunday day (when they aren't on sale), but every order usually included a couple, and there were *tons* of 6 - 14 orders. There weren't any real issues with counting down the carhops or anything, though I did have to redo the bill sheet like four times, and went through three deposit bags as I kept forgetting stupid things, like to endorse my checks, or to include the white copy of the bill sheet, or something like that. But I got everything done and assembled without taking *too* long. Shelley and Lilie called while I was taking care of stuff, and they told me to come over when I was done. Lilie was spending the night at Shelley's, and they were going to be up for a while.
That's when the fun began. When I finished the normal closing stuff, I mean, not when I went over to Shelley and Lilie's. Well, that was fun too, but we're not there yet.
So I call Order-Matic. It takes a while (10 minutes?), but I finally get through. The guy was really nice, and he told me that they were just swamped with people having problems with the time change. So he walks me through fixing the time in the console, which is supposed to fix everything.
But it doesn't. It pulls some data from the 31st onto the first (duplicating it, as far as I can tell), resulting in three bands already being assigned. So I call them back, and it takes a while to get through again, though not quite as long as last time. I get through, and get a new guy this time. He grabs the guy who talked to me last time, and they're talking about all kinds of things. They finally tell me to pull up pcAnywhere, and have me looking for certain things. They're not there.
There should be two different tech support lines. One for people who know what they're talking about, and one for complete idiots. Because the current setup forces the tech support people to treat everyone like idiots. I can't really blame them - most people are, in fact, idiots. Especially about computers. It's just frustrating to have a tech support person walk me through eight different things to solve a problem, all of which I've already tried. But I can't really just say "I've already tried that". They don't believe you.
While I'm on the phone with this guy, Shelley and Lilie start calling me. I mean, they made a thourough attempt to get in touch with me. They called my phone repeatedly, from both Shelley's apartment and Lilie's cell, and they also called the store phone a few times. I couldn't really do anything, though, since I was talking to the tech support guy. I wasn't going to ask him to hold for a bit so I could answer the phone, and I couldn't really say anything to them. So they tell me they can finally get into it, and they're going to go in and delete the data, and they'll call back in like five minutes if there's any problems. I called the girls back as soon as I was off the phone and explained what was going on, and that I should be over in a bit.
Half an hour later, it starts raining. I notice this from my seat at the computer at the store. It's after 1 am at this point; we close at 11.
I call them back, hoping to find out what's going on. I'm on hold for like 40 minutes. Lilie calls again and starts talking about how they have no right to make me stay this long, and how by now, everyone else would have given up and gone home. So I finally did as well. I left a big long note about what was going on, and left. I don't know how long I would have stayed, had she not called, or if I didn't feel the way I do for her.
It's a combination of a few things. I'm very stubborn. I mean, very stubborn. I'm not talking about when you playfully refuse something, then you finally give in. That's something completely different. I mean, when it comes down to it, I'm stubborn as the rock. Even if... especially if it's something I want to do, and I'm being pushed into it. I can still remember back in 6th grade, at Hernandez, when we were having that little 50's day dance thing in Mrs. Hilburn's class. Chelsea had dressed up for the occasion, and was so adorable in a little poodle skirt and a ribbon in her hair. This was back during the awkward phase, when everyone knew I liked her, and she got teased about it a fair deal, so I couldn't really talk to her at all. I wanted nothing more in the world then to go ask her to dance, except for a few things. First, I don't know how to dance. At all. Never have. I have rythm, but no style. I've learned a few things, and can generally fake it when absolutely necessary, especially slow stuff, but generally, no. A few guys came up to me (I think David and/or Josh may have been involved) and tried to get me to go dance with her. If I remember correctly, they even tried to physically get me over there. Right. Or when Daniel tried to get me to ask Nov if I could take over B5. I was thinking about it, but because he tried to get me to do it, and even offered to ask himself, I refused. Because I'm just that stubborn. I also don't like to walk away from problems - I tend to confront them and if necessary, brute-force through them. Even after admitting defeat and walking away, I usualy keep thinking about it for a few weeks, unless it gets solved in the interim.
So yeah. I did leave, though, and headed on over to Shelley's.
I can't say how glad I am Lilie was able to drag me away from Sonic. Her attitude on the matter is "Fuck Dave." In fact, that's her response to most Sonic issues. Which I can't say I don't disagree with.
Anyway.
They were watching 'The Perfect Score', a movie about people stressing about the SAT, which is ridiculous. Anyhoo, Shelley fell asleep and went to bed, leaving Lilie and I alone on the couch. At 2:30 in the morning.

And now, back to normal.
We hung out again Monday night at Shelley's. Things were normal; we had fun. They both attacked me, and I only hurt Shelley a little defending myself.

And now, back to normal.
We hung out again Monday night at Shelley's. Things were normal; we had fun. They both attacked me, and I only hurt Shelley a little defending myself.

I said do you speak my language; he just smiled, and gave me a vegemite sandwich - Men At Work, Down Under
Few things to catch up on - the SFFS party, the party (and lack thereof) last night, Shelley's Friday night, etc.
So I'll start with boring stuff first, to get it out of the way. I finally processed the 500+ DDR mp3s I got through DDRAmerica. That was a major pain in the ass. I had to go through and edit each one's ID3v2 tags, because they had all kinds of weird capitalizations going on, and I had to retype the name and artist fields on each one. The album field was fine, though. That took something like three to five hours. But that's finally over with, and I've got all of them on my playlist now (which has been updated, now up to almost 2200).
I've got some pictures to upload; I'll see if I can get to that today before I have to go to work. Probably not, though - I have to clean my room and mow the lawn. Fun times.
So, the SFFS Party:
I found out about it Monday while playing DDR; I asked Derrick if he or anyone else was going to Dragon's Lair for open gaming on Thursday; he said no, because he was DJ'ing at the SFFS Halloween party, and most of the SFFS people would be there. I asked the guys about it while playing D&D that night (well, sort of; I didn't stay long; I'll come back to that). Michael said he'd go if he wasn't doing anything else, and to call him and ask. So I did, and he wasn't, so we went. Lilie was working 4 - C, or I would have invited her as well. I got my fairy costume together - the wings, bought a new tiara, the old magic wand, and some glitter. I tried to find a girl to put it on - to make sure nothing went wrong - but was having trouble. I forgot momentarily that Lilie was at work and called her (This becomes important a few chapters down the road), but just couldn't find anyone. I ended up talking to Lauren Wyatt, who I really haven't seen since high school (though we did run each other at Spider-Man, but spoke only briefly). She cut her hair fairly short, and she wasn't wearing a necklace. Other than that, she seems basically like I remember. Anyway, she put the glitter on my face; I also learned how to do it on my own, should the need arise later (and it did). She also lent Michael some horns on a leather band, so he had a costume as well - a white devil, or something like that. Preparations complete, we headed to the LBJ Student Center.
There was a guy dressed as Robin Hood standing outside the door, greeting people. I would later learn he was the SFFS's faculty advisor. Michael and I went in and paid our entrance fees; Brett was sitting in one of the chairs at the table. That was weird. I guess I knew in the back of my subconscious that he was in the SFFS, but it didn't really occur to me that he'd be there - he didn't say anything Monday night, and an officer at that!
The setup was fairly standard - there was a table on the back wall with some food and drinks, as well as two little globe things with dry ice and water to provide some odd smoke; a handful of round tables scattered throughout the room; there was a projection TV set up on one wall with Halo and two linked X-Boxes; Derrick had brought in his computer to play music, though the speaker setup sucked - it was just his personal speakers. They provided decent music, but the whole effect was... kind of laughable. Not that many people showed up - I'd guess less than twenty. At least half the people there were involved in setting it up, which is cool, but not a good ratio.
I played a lot of Halo, though I don't think we ever even got a full eight players. I stayed on the projection TV and held my own for once. We played mainly 2 on 3 or 3 on 3 teams. A few people rotated in and out, but there was core group of four or so people - I also met Rem, who does Halo LAN things, and I may be going to some of those. Which would be cool.
Caleb was there. That was another occurrence I should have anticipated, but didn't because I wasn't thinking. He wanted to talk about why I had stopped talking to him, while I really didn't. I really just didn't want to talk to him at all. I'm not mad at him or anything, I just don't want to be friends with him or hang out or anything.
Oh, and I got hit on, for the first time in my life. Of course, it was by a gay guy. Which puts a humorous slant on the whole thing. I'm flattered, don't get me wrong. It's just funny. It started during the officer auction, which was just sad. No one bid on anyone. Not really. Michael won Brett for like 20 bucks. Anyway, I was sitting at one table with Michael, and this guy was sitting at this other table with a much larger group. We kept making eye contact, and he raised his eyebrows at me once or twice. Michael noticed this and commented on it. Later, when we were just standing around talking, he totally just came up and started joining in on our conversation. Or tried to, at least - none of us really responded to him at all. Later, after Lilie called (more on this later), Michael, Brett and I were standing around talking. I was relating what had just transpired between us to them, and again he came up and stood with us. I kept referring to 'her' in an obviously more-than-friends manner (well, sorta - "She just wants to be friends", "She called and we talked", etc). So I think he realized I'm not gay. But then Brett asked me what Caleb wanted - I guess he noticed that Caleb kept coming up to me and trying to talk to me - and I said, "Well, he wanted to talk about why we broke up." (which is what I refer to it as). Later, Michael commented on that - "Do you realize what you just said?" (Talking about breaking up with another guy in front of the gay guy who'd been hitting on me). That alone was worth the price of admission.
There were some cool costumes. Well, I guess. There were two Indiana Jones, neither of which was James East (who was also there) or Josh (who usually does that). There was a wizard, who looked really cool. Lily (Derrick's girlfriend) was a cat. There were two other girls dressed as cats as well, though I didn't know any of them. Brett was dressed as some 70's guy - big fro, white shite, gold chain with a peace sign. He wouldn't disco, but Michael may force him to since he bought him in the auction. Liz, this girl, had on a huge burgundy dress and a sort of peacock mask - it was really pretty, and had a lot of glitter on her exposed shoulders and upper torso. We even had a weird discussion about the differences in our glitter - mine was much more outspoken; hers, more subtle. When we first started talking, she asked me if she knew me from somewhere, but I didn't remember seeing her before. She later changed into a much smaller black dress, and I didn't even recognize her - I'm just not good with faces until I spend some more time around someone. But she seemed pretty cool. CJ was some anime character and won the Male division of the costume contest, which annoyed me. Seriously. He's kind of annoying overall. The overall winners were these two chicks dressed as vampires. Not cool vampires, but angst-filled, noble-type vampires like something out of Vampire: The Masquerade or something. The one who spoke couldn't think very fast on her feet, either - she tried to deliver an impromptu monologue, but it didn't work at all. I wanted to smack her. Hard.
I did win a door prize, though. As did Michael. We could take one thing off of one table, or five comics. I took this little grey stuffed spider with six legs. Which makes it not a spider, I s'pose. The other choices were a bar of soap with a Princess Amidala action figure in the middle, or something else. That, and I don't like comic books. That's what Michael took. They ended up giving away all of the comic books at the end anyway.
Lilie called me at one point. That's significant, 'cause she NEVER calls people. Well, she calls people back, but that's about it. And she was just returning my call from earlier. But we had it out. We talked about our relationship, and our physicalility - as she put it, her 'line' is in a different place from other people's. So we're just friends. Which is cool. Because we're very close friends - I trust her immensely, and do feel very close to her. We're fairly close physically as well, which is what was was causing me all the confusion in the first place, even though she had said that we were just friends. It's just one of these things that's ingrained deep in my psyche. I'm working on not falling in love with her just 'cause we hug a lot and what-not, and she shows such definite caring, and is so sweet, and... well, you get the point. I do like her. A lot. But I can live with 'just friends'.
Mom's freaking out about me not having the yard mowed yet, so I'm going to have to do the rest later.

Sunny came home to her favorite room; Sunny sat down in the kitchen
So Dragon's Lair last night was a blast. Sort of. Long story. I've got about half an hour before I have to leave for school, so I'm not really going to post everything - I'll do that later, possibly tonight.
Yes, Lilie and I hung out. It was fun. Then we hung out some more.
Then we're hanging out some more tonight.
Then I've discovered another torrent site, with music. So that's fun - I've got 11 downloads going right now, most of which should be done by the time I get home from, especially as bandwidth is freed up and allocated to the other ones. Now, as Plif once said, Bit Torrent may not be the end-all, be-all of p2p downloading, but it sure beats the living crap out of previous clients like Kazaa and eDonkey. Seriously.

I did it... well, not really
So last night, I went to Jarrod's show with Michael and Myca. They did pretty good - everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I played a little DDR beforehand - Can't Stop Falling in Love (Speed Mix), Kick the Can, Afronova Primeval, Drop Out, Abyss, and Rhythm & Police (KOG3 Mix). After the concert, I stopped by to say 'hey' to Katie. She seemed sincerely happy to see me - we talked in the kitchen while she cleaned a blender. Nothing substantial - she told me about the various issues they have with their place at the moment, what she'd been up to, that kind of thing. We went outside eventually, as I was leaving; she saw Myca getting out of my truck, and freaked out momentarily - "Billy, there's someone getting out of your truck!!" It was kinda funny. She also mentioned about how she wasn't sure it was me when I knocked, 'cause I was turned around, and she could barely see me out of the peephole. "I don't trust peepholes." I, however, thought she said "I don't trust people." It was kinda funny.
Apparently, though, (according to Matt and Michael) she now knows I like her - because I stopped by to see her with two other people in the truck, and didn't have them with me. Or something like that. I don't know...

Should I call?
Jarrod's show is tonight, and I'm definitely going. I believe Michael is going as well. However, I don't know about Katie and/or Rose. I know Rose expressed some interest about going, but I haven't talked to Katie at all about it - though Rose says she'd like to go as well. I'm afraid to call, though - afraid that they're just humoring me, "putting up" with me, if you will. I know things are bad when I'm insecure about my relationship with Rose, who's probably the closest person I ha(d)ve. That's one of my greatest fears - that people I care about, that I sincerely want to be with, don't reciprocate, and are just humoring me. I think it stems from the Chelsea thing (just about everything does, really). So I'm still debating calling her; we'll see. I told Rose about it when I called her Friday night (which is one of the reasons I feel so weird right now - when I talked to her, she seemed like she just didn't want to talk to me. Which is fine - there's a ton of reasons why that'd be the case, especially considering that Mat was over there when I called. But knowing all of these things in my brain doesn't do a damn thing to change how I feel in my heart), but I don't know if she'll remember that whole thing all the way to now.
(For the next paragraph, Katie refers to Katie Wilkinson, the Katie at work)
I went and got my schedule from work last night. Katie was like, "Yeah, my throat hurts a lot. I think it's 'cause I've been kissing Nick too much. I've been hanging out with him every day (he lives in Arkanses; I take it he's down here for vacation or something) and kissing him every day." I was like, "That's great, Katie."
We're supposed to play tonight after the show, but I don't know if I'm up for it. My classes start next week, so Luke is going to run a game Monday nights, and we'll play my game whenever the oppurtunity arises. Which is cool, don't get me wrong - I don't feel like they're just trying to get out of my game, or just get rid of me (they were afraid I would). I won't be playing in this game, since I wouldn't be there 'til like 9:30; however, I might stop in occassionally just to see what another person DM'ing is like.
Heh. Time to shower and what-not. I still don't know what I'm going to do. I probably won't call, just like I didn't Saturday when I went to play DDR. It hurts more, but there's less chance of making myself look like an idiot.

2004-06-09
Long time followers of my personal life will not be suprised at the outcome of my evening with Katie
It didn't happen. Nope.
So I came home from work, after talking with Rose on the drive home. Everything's going fine so far. I shower, do the dishes, clean up, clean out my truck (not in this order, of course), and get ready to leave. I even burn two new CDs; one is a dance mix, and the other is a compilation of the all the Reel Big Fish, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and Squirrel Nut Zippers songs I have so far, with Sing Sing Sing and You're the Boss thrown in for good measure.
I go to start my truck... it over-revs, and when I take the key out, it keeps trying to start. This is seriously bad (it's raining fairly heavily at this pint, as well). I call Jerry, and he tells me it's a short in the starter, and to disconnect the battery cable from the terminal. I do so, and it stops. He then tells me to get underneath the engine and (I'm not kidding at all here) hit the starter with a hammer. I do so, to no avail. I had the cell phone with me a little under the truck, as I was trying to find the starter and he was helping me. It got a little wet, but I didn't think anything of it. I, on the other hand, got *very* wet. My shirt and shorts were just soaked.
I finally called Rose to let her know what was going on. I also let her know that Janelle wouldn't let me borrow her car, and that Mom wouldn't be home for a while, and probably wouldn't let me borrow her car either. She said she'd start looking for another ride. I resumed banging on the starter; no effect.
Rose and I talked a little later; Zack Scofield said he'd give them a ride, but it would cause some delays. It was really funny - Katie, upon learning that Zack was going to be their ride, wasn't sure if she wanted to go. She was like, "Well, I'm really tired, I think I'm just going to go back to my house then." (I finally got the story out of Rose as well - apparently, Katie asked them if I was going to be driving back here, then back to San Antonio, or what while they were at the concert, and Rose told her that she was fairly sure I'd be remaining in San Antonio; Katie then asked if Rose thought I'd like some company. Rose was like, I'm fairly sure he would. We were all four going to pile into my cab for the rides, and Katie and I were going to hang out in SA during the concert. This is the second time we were going to hang out, just the two of us, at her instigation, that's been cancelled). So in a weird, preverse way, that makes me feel better - she didn't just want to go to San Antonio and hang out, she wanted to hang out with me. Damn. Zack, upon hearing Katie wasn't going to go, was like, "Well, what am I going to do, then?" It was a funny little moment, and I think Rose got Katie to go anyway to help salvage the situatin. I'll have to talk to Rose when she gets back.
That was the final conversation with Rose. I really hope they made it to the concert and had a great time. I feel really bad that I wasn't able to take them - it was so very frustrating, having problems AT THAT MOMENT, with them all depending on me and stuff. I think Jerry's coming over tomorrow to fix it or something; I don't know. Janelle's going to give me a ride to work, and I don't know how I'm getting home. We'll see.
But our story doesn't end there. Oh, no. So my phone's acting a little weird; I assume it's due to the water exposure, and let it dry out. I was (and still am) very depressed, so I sat out on the driveway in the rain. I eventually got up and moved to the chair in the garage when I realized Mom would be home soon, and wouldn't be too happy to find me sitting there in the rain. I sat there for a while, then changed into some dry clothes and went to bed (it was like... 6:30 or so at this point). I finally got to sleep when my mom came into the room, saying that Cullen's dad was on the phone and wanted to talk to me. That was... weird, to say the least. The last time a parent's friend called me, it was Stuart's mom while we were playing D&D, and they had to home and couldn't come back. So yeah.
But apparently, Cullen's dad was on his way to pick up Cullen from work (they live out on Hilliard), but couldn't because of some major flooding. He waa asking me if I could go pick up Cullen and take him to a hotel or something. I was like, sure, no prob. Of course I'll help a friend in trouble, especially when it's something minor like just drive around a little. So I go and pick up Cullen; we come back here, he calls his dad, then we have a mini MvC2 and SCII tournament. He beats me in MvC2 4/3, but I destroy him in SCII 3-0, 3-0. Then we go to Target, Sonic, and Motel 6 where he's going to crash for the night.
When I get home, my phone freaks out. It basically lets me know that it's not going to work anymore. This was a shame, because it did survive the three story fall and continue working after that. Michael did have an extra phone, so I called and he let me have it. I sent him a gMail invite when I got home. It works fine now, although I don't have my custom ringtones anymore. That's slightly annoying, but much, much better than being phoneless or having to buy a new one.
This whole thing brings up an two interesting points:
1) If I had gone to San Antonio, what would have happened to Cullen? I'm not sure. So I guess it's good, to an extent, that I wasn't able to go. I'm certainly not going to go into a "Everything happens for a reason" spiel (well, it does - the events leading up to it, obviously). I made a comment about how I felt somewhat cheered up by our hanging out, and Cullen said something about how Katie was a lot cuter than he was. I forget exactly how it went, but it made sense at the time, trust me. Cullen's like Jarrod and I - we understand, agree, and even expect each other to choose girls over friends. Why? The friends will be there tomorrow, but the girl might now, so enjoy that while it lasts. Plus, they're usually a hell of a lot cuter. If I had to make a choice, it'd be pretty difficult. I'm somewhat confident that Cullen would have been taken care of, and he would preferred that I had gone to San Antonio. In his shoes, that's what I would have preferred (and yes, I've been in a very similiar situation). This is now the second time Katie and I had our plans, made at her instigation, to hang out together dashed by cruel, cruel fate. I don't really believe in signs or that sort of thing, just that it's a very annoying pair of coincidences. Those that feel otherwise will point to the Cullen situation as a third coincidence that makes the whole thing being just a random collection of events unlikely. I say: go away before I hurt you.
2) Dagmar lives out on Hilliard. Were they able to pick her up? Cullen's dad tried 1 1/2 to 2 hours later than they would have, so I'm not sure that they would have been caught in the same situation. What about taking her home? I don't think she'll have a problem crashing with Rose or something similar, but it's an interesting little situation. Again, I'll find out later when I talk to Rose.
I've been toying with the idea of calling Katie to find out what happened and how things went. Of course, if she's hanging out with Zack, that might not be the best idea. That, and I'm incredibly awkward on the phone. I feel - not quite sick, but definitely something in the nauseous category - at the mere thought of calling her. But I think I will.
Looking at the concert info, this is his last concert, or something to that effect:

Okay, I'm going to call her.
2004-06-06
I should have known better...
but I didn't. So I got my hopes all up. And she called while I was in the shower, and said that she was really tired and wasn't up for going, but that she really did want to go.
It's weird, because I want to believe her. She even said "I really wanted to go". But ever since Chelsea, I can't really just believe that kind of thing. Even if it makes perfect sense, and everything corolates it, I just can't fully accept it's not that they just didn't want to hang out with me.
So yeah, I'm just chilling at home now, instead of going to that thing with Katie. I'll see her before too long, though. I hope she gets some rest - she needs it. She sounded really bad on the message she left - like she had a throat virus or something. I just want her to be happy. Even if that's with Tom or something like that, whatever it takes.
I've had a great weekend (except tonight, of course). Thursday, worked 5 - 10. I got out about 11, since we were really busy and had some issues with filtering the fryers. I went and played DDR after that, and took Freddie to hang out with Laurin. Came back into town, went and hung out with Katie for a while. Then I went and picked up Rose, then went back to Red Roof. Katie's dad took her home, then Rose and I hung out some more. We went to Joe on the Go's and had some Italian Cream Soda, then went and got my truck inspected, then moved the couch to my mom's work (Rose rode on it (in the back of my truck) the whole way there), then went to Colloquium so Rose could buy some poster tubes. Saw Christina there, that was cool. Then I took Rose home, went home myself, and crashed. Hard.
Woke up 'bout 5, and went in to work at 6. We were really slow, though, and I was out of there by 8:30. Turned around and went and played DDR again. At one point, there was this 'punk-ish' couple playing on the 5th mix. I watched a bit (they were doing Dam Dariram, KCP Mix). Later, the chick was about to go by herself, and I asked if I could join in (not trying to hit on her or anything, just wanted to play some DDR). She was like 'Sure!'; it was suprising, though, because she sounded a lot younger than she looked. She was already on the mode select screen, so I had to ask her which button she had pressed, and she told me (the wrong one), so I ended up choosing 'singles' instead of starting the other button as well so we could play versus. I stepped back so she could play, but she insisted that I play, as she had just played. I did Rythym & Police, My Summer Love, then Drop Out. I failed Drop Out during the final run, but almost maxed the other two. She was like, 'Whoa!' I came back, and it was raining hardcore. There were some awesome flashes of lightning - one of them just streaked across the sky, then splintered out into like five other strikes. There was also one that hit like five times right in a row in the same spot. It was *really* bright. Went to Red Roof again, and hung out with Katie for like four hours. We even had a little picnic, with Burger King and Taco Cabana stuff. I eventually went and got Rose, then we went back to Red Roof. The three of us drove around for a while - stopped by Sonic to double check when I went in that day (noon), and they got some breakfast. We sat on the tables on 31 and at it. Then we drove around some more, and put a note on the jeep on Post Road Katie wants. Stopped by my house to put my uniform in the washer, then we went to a few garage sales; they bought some cups and a few other things. I eventually took them home and went into work. I was *really* tired at this point, but it went okay. Got off work, came home, and took a nap. After waking up, Cullen and I went to Le Fun (again!) to play some more DDR. I saw the punk people again, but didn't play with them or anything. I did take their picture - expect a massive picture post sometime soon - possibly this evening, depending on how frustrated I get with Star Wars: Bounty Hunter (I'm on the last level). Had some fun; came home, then went and took Rose home again. She also asked me about giving her and Dagmar a ride to a Prince concert on Wednesday, which I can. I just have to find somewhere to go play DDR while they're at the concert. I'm doing the truck that morning, so that'll give me a chance to take a nap or something like that between the two.
Been getting some weird music lately - Squirrel Nut Zippers, Mighty MIghty Bosstones, Aurora Borealis, and the Brian Setzer Orchestra.

Okay, I've finished it.
Here goes:
Man, as I was downloading Lemon Tree, I previewed it to make sure it was the right version - there's another song of the same name by Fool's Garden that's completely different - I got it to play in Kazaa. I cried.
Here goes:
- El Shaddai
Chelsea sang this song at the 6th grade talent show type thing. I remember I couldn't really look straight at her, because I knew everyone knew how I felt about her and I was afraid that they'd talk more, or give her a harder time, if I did so. - Lemon Tree
Chelsea sang this one at the 8th grade talent show. She sat in a chair, and played an acoustic guitar, as well as sang. I sat next to her before the show, and David had put the cologne on me a little too strong (well that, and my immense body heat didn't help)... This was near the end of the year, though, and I don't remember who I was with - I think I was with Barbara at the time. It still counts, though. I think we took a group picture, including me, Barbara, David, Becca, Chelsea, and a few others. I used to have a copy of it, but it went in the great purge (it was in with Barbara's stuff, and I only kept Chelsea's.) - California Sun
We played this song in band, and later, when we all went to Fiesta Texas during the 8th grade band trip, this song was playing as we waited in line for the ride where you all sit in the really, really big inner tube and go down the river. Barbara, Shayna, Josh and me all sang along with it, since we're all band nerds. - Autumn Goodbye
This is the only song that doesn't directly apply to a memory I have. However, I always thought of Barbara when I heard it - the lyrics are a fair fit. - Fly
When Mary and I first started going out, we talked on the phone a few times. I remember one time when we were carrying in groceries and she called; I talked with her for a while. She talked about this song a lot, so I listened to it. Of course, this was before I started listening to the radio, and this was one of the events that helped me make that shift. - How Do I Live Without You?
Even though we only went out for like two weeks, and only went on one date, Mary decided that this was "our" song. Fair enough... - Feel the Sun
One of the tirst times I heard this song was while Terri and I were talking on the phone after the library incident. I talked to her about the lyrics, and it stuck. Consequently, this song always makes me think of her. - That's the Way It Is
Terri *loved* this song. I like it too. - Genie in a Bottle
Mindy and I went on a number of dates to the Skating Rink. This song was popular at the time. One of our first physical moments was during this song; during the "You've gotta rub me the right way" lyric, I snuck up behind her (during free skate, mind you) and rubbed my hands down her sides. She was shocked, but she loved it. - Lucky
Mindy loved this song. - Never Had a Dream Come True
If I had to pick a song that was "our" song, I would have to say it was this one. In fact, one time, while I was giving Mindy a ride home while we were broken up, she seemed offended that I still listened to this song. - I Wanna Be With You
Another song we both liked; this song was responsible for our getting back together one time. We went to a movie "as friends"; this was right after my CDs had been stolen, so the only one I had for the moment was the one that was in the player when it happened. It was an "I Love You" collection; we talked most of the ride there, so we didn't have the CD player on or anything. We got into a little argument at one pont, so we turned on the CD player. I had forgotten which CD was in it; as the first notes started up, I laughed - it was something of an ironic situation. But we both started singing, and by the time we got to the theater, she was in my arms, and after we parked, we kissed. - Holler
I gave Mindy Forever for her birthday one year (she eventually gave it back). This was the first song on that CD. - Baby Look at Us
This was one of three songs (this and the next two) that have basically the exact same description: Mindy and I both loved to sing it, and it seemed to fit. You can replace "Mindy" with "Suzie" and the sentence still applies. - I Love You (Donna Lewis version)
- Heaven (Radio Mix)
- Eyes Like Yours
Jessica (at Sonic) really likes Shakira, and one time, while I was hanging out at her house, this song came on - but in Spanish. We never hooked up, of course. - Elephant Love Song Medley
Suzie and I sang this as a duet the second day we were going out. - If You Steal My Sunshine
Suzie *loves* this song, and we had a lot of fun singing it on the way to Galveston. - Another Dumb Blonde
Suzie's favorite song. She asked to borrow a CD with it on it after we broke up so she could practice for a karaoke contest. She never called back, though, so I couldn't give it to her. Rudy and co from work think this was a ploy for her to get me near her again, possibly to hook back up or something (I wouldn't have). Of course, this is the same group that thought that when Heather got naked, she wanted me to peak (whereas Rose, and I agree with this viewpoint, feels that it was just a massive demonstration of trust).
Man, as I was downloading Lemon Tree, I previewed it to make sure it was the right version - there's another song of the same name by Fool's Garden that's completely different - I got it to play in Kazaa. I cried.
Oddness.
So, Katie knew I liked her. Then, I gather, she also knew I did get over her at one point.
So we both worked last night, and I made a comment about having a nice conversation with someone on the boards, then switched with her so I could take that order out. On the way back in, I made a little comment about her having cute eyes. She said something about me having a crush on her [that girl].
Tonight, she was carhopping; Shannon was fountaining, and I was cooking. They were all making bags (we were closed), and talking and having a good time. I told someone we were closed, and made a flippant joke about her liking me or something. Katie responded (I wasn't originally talking to her; she jumped in) about how I shouldn't get my hopes up or something. She again commented on the girl I had a "crush" on yesterday. I rebuked that, noting that I just said she had cute eyes. Keep in mind this conversation is being carried on in typical Sonic style - we're yelling back and forth between the kitchen and the lobby. At this point, Shannon jumps in and says something to the effect of "Someone's jealous..." It was a weird comment. Ricky later said something about her being upset 'cause I'm over her. I don't know... as far as I knew, we were just friends (if that - am I really friends with anyone at work?), and that was that. I'd be suprised ot find out anything else was true. I mean, I am over her. Of course, me being me, I wouldn't really pass up the chance to go out with her, if it ever arose. But I'm not working in any way, shape, or form to make that oppurtunity arise. I don't really have anyone I'm going after at the moment... I sorta like Katie (Fink) - she's *SO* cute, very sweet, I *love* her voice, and the light complexion/red hair/freckles thing totally works for me. But there's all the normal problems - I don't think she'd go out with me, blah blah blah, and the new ones = I'm just too lonely, too heartbroken, too tired, and too isolated to do anything about it. So not really. It was like 3 years between Mindy and Suzie, and I wouldn't be suprised if it was at least that long between Suzie and my next relationship. Anyway...
Ricky says they're gonna start moving me towards Assistant manager. Coolness.
I'm going to do a CD of songs that remind me of ex-girlfriends. So far:
Yeah, some of them seem a little clich?, but there's good reason behind them. Once I have the track list completed, I'll post it, along with the reasoning behind them.

Went and played some DDR with Daniel earlier (finally!). It was fun. Le Fun got a 7th Mix. And we took some pictures. I definitely feel better - I haven't played for like two weeks (at least), so it felt good to get back in the swing of things, so to speak. I'm SO tired right now, though, and I don't know how much longer I'll be awake for. I've been dl'ing a ton of music - Stray Cats mainly, but I'm trying to round out my Sarina Paris collection. Stupid mistaged songs... argh.
I may leave for Galveston tomorrow (Tuesday); not sure - I need to talk to Edward, and see when i wake up tomorrow. I'm not sure about going, though - Chris is having... a small problem, and I don't want to intrude or be a bother. But I do want to see Suzie SO bad.

I'm happy.
Well, for the most part.
The good: I've been in a music downloading mood lately. Not sure why. I've mainly been going for dance and techno mixes. Fun stuff. I don't work 'til Thursday, and with classes done, I have three days of complete and total freedom. I need to try to get a hold of Suzie... that'd be awesome. Katie messaage'd me earlier, which was pretty neat (she was thanking for me for taking her shift). Met a new guy, Cullen, playing DDR; he's gonna play D&D with us.
The Bad: Haven't seen Suzie since Thursday. Not sure of the next time I'll see her... but I have faith. Not in general; just in her. But we are reaching two months, which is sort of a danger zone for me - Kenni, Shayna, Terri, and I think one more broke up with me at two months. Not that I think she will - things (as far as I know) are going great! I'm starting to feel really secure in the relationship, especially with the letters she gave me Thursday. I really, really care for her - definitely gettin' attached. (I think I've moved off of the "Bad" section, and am officially on a tangent. I think I'll start a new paragraph).
Current Music: Shawn Colvin, "Sunny Came Home"
Diversions is going out of business; that suXors. The only good thing is they're having mad sales, so I can pick up some cool stuff (well, so is the antique store; they have some cool swords and other stuff).
Sights and Sounds was this weekend; I would have really loved to take Suzie - the two of us, walking in the cool night air, amidst all the lights... I mean, neither of us is Christian, but I think it would have been pretty cool anyway. Maybe next year...? We'll see...
Joe Ely; "Run Preciosa"
Worked a fair amount this weekend - Friday night 6 - C, Saturday 5 - 8, and today 11 - 10. I was only scheduled 11 - 5, but Katie asked me if I could take her 5 - 10 fountain shift, and since I wasn't able to see Suzie anyway, I figured why not.
So yeah... Suzie left her yellow Old Navy shirt here. It smells like her :)
