Catching Up

Not too much stuff going on, but I feel like it's been a while since I've written.

Work: Work's been going okay. Had those two 14 1/2 hour shifts, which is fun. I've been blue shirting it up, and it's weird, because the new cooks are actually responding to me as a blue shirt.

Oh, yeah, we have a couple new cooks.

Pedro: This guy sucks. At least, he did the last time I worked with him. Freddie says he's getting better; it's a moot point, since I'm fountaining all week. He's so tiny, too. That causes some complications when we need him to get lettuce, cheese, or something else high up. He's really quiet too, which is annoying because when he speaks, I have to ask him to repeat himself several times, especially if we're in the kitchen and there's a lot of noise going on. There was one incident where it was me, Pedro, and Scott; Pedro was on Dresser; he just announced "I can't do this anymore, Will, I need you to take over." and walked to grill. Which is fine... except I was in the middle of a few things and was quite busy myself. I don't know about him overall.

Scott: He's the best of the new cooks so far. He's also been here the longest (except Pedro, of course). He's decent on swamp side, but still needs backup when it gets busy. He handles it okay, though, and is getting much better about understanding that you have to watch ahead and drop stuff right away. He's kind of a jerk, though, and I know he's talked bad about me under his breath. He does have a tendency to be lazy at times, though.

Jimmy: He kinda gets on my nerves. I can't really explain why. He's only done grill and dresser so far, and he's going to have to pick up the pace majorly on dresser - he's trying to do it Whataburger style. He'll learn, or he won't. Either way...

Caleb: This guy is kinda dopey looking. It's fairly humorous, I think. Anyhoo, he's another remnant from another fast food place. I'm not entirely sure it's advantageous - they try to do things the way they're used to, which is normal, except we do things fairly oddly. He calls me "sir", and when I made a comment about trying not to be too bossy, he said something like "It's your job" or "You're the boss" or something. Odd.

So we've got these four jokers. We've also got Jason returning from injured status... perhaps. I heard he'd be back by now. Maybe he got in trouble or something, or Dave just forgot. We'll see.

We've also got three new carhops - Jessica Flores, Jody, and Krysta. Krysta's okay, if a little annoying. Flores is alright, and I haven't really worked with Jody, but she definitely knows what she's doing.

I need to ask Dave about becoming an assistant soon. Other than that, nothing new, really. Katie came back from vacation; somehow, Dave and Mark both still work there. I'm fountaining all this week, which is sorta cool, except our daytime fountains SUCK ASS.

School: Not much to report on this front. I've got another week before Speech Comm starts. The refund from ACC *finally* came in, and I still have to go deposit it. SWT sent me my acceptance letter, and will give me a loan, so that's good. I'll be taking as much as I can, so I can hurry up and just get the fuck out of there.

Personal: Depressing news here. I've been severely bummed over Katie lately - Matt commented on it earlier. I haven't stopped by to see them since those two days of moving, and I don't really plan to unless they call and invite me over. I don't want to bother them or anything now that they've moved into their own place. I'm afraid to even call her. I really miss the times we hung out together at Red Roof Inn. Every once in a while, I get this funny idea of telling her how I feel. But I realize that that would accomplish nothing, and if anything, make things worse. It's funny - I'm only prone to encompassing daydreaming when I'm *really* tired (like I was this week), and twice now I've caught myself in one. First time was in the freezer at work, and the second was lying in bed. Odd, to say the least.

Gaming: Still playing DDR. My current goal is Afronova Primeval on Doubles/Heavy. I haven't really tried when I wasn't tired and beaten down; I look foward to trying it later this week, when I'm nice and refreshed. Still haven't done Max 300 either, for that matter. Playing Front Mission 4 right now, which si really, really cool. Thoroughly enjoying it.

Oh, one other thing: Dodgeball is quite possibly the greatest movie ever made.
