Here goes:
- El Shaddai
Chelsea sang this song at the 6th grade talent show type thing. I remember I couldn't really look straight at her, because I knew everyone knew how I felt about her and I was afraid that they'd talk more, or give her a harder time, if I did so. - Lemon Tree
Chelsea sang this one at the 8th grade talent show. She sat in a chair, and played an acoustic guitar, as well as sang. I sat next to her before the show, and David had put the cologne on me a little too strong (well that, and my immense body heat didn't help)... This was near the end of the year, though, and I don't remember who I was with - I think I was with Barbara at the time. It still counts, though. I think we took a group picture, including me, Barbara, David, Becca, Chelsea, and a few others. I used to have a copy of it, but it went in the great purge (it was in with Barbara's stuff, and I only kept Chelsea's.) - California Sun
We played this song in band, and later, when we all went to Fiesta Texas during the 8th grade band trip, this song was playing as we waited in line for the ride where you all sit in the really, really big inner tube and go down the river. Barbara, Shayna, Josh and me all sang along with it, since we're all band nerds. - Autumn Goodbye
This is the only song that doesn't directly apply to a memory I have. However, I always thought of Barbara when I heard it - the lyrics are a fair fit. - Fly
When Mary and I first started going out, we talked on the phone a few times. I remember one time when we were carrying in groceries and she called; I talked with her for a while. She talked about this song a lot, so I listened to it. Of course, this was before I started listening to the radio, and this was one of the events that helped me make that shift. - How Do I Live Without You?
Even though we only went out for like two weeks, and only went on one date, Mary decided that this was "our" song. Fair enough... - Feel the Sun
One of the tirst times I heard this song was while Terri and I were talking on the phone after the library incident. I talked to her about the lyrics, and it stuck. Consequently, this song always makes me think of her. - That's the Way It Is
Terri *loved* this song. I like it too. - Genie in a Bottle
Mindy and I went on a number of dates to the Skating Rink. This song was popular at the time. One of our first physical moments was during this song; during the "You've gotta rub me the right way" lyric, I snuck up behind her (during free skate, mind you) and rubbed my hands down her sides. She was shocked, but she loved it. - Lucky
Mindy loved this song. - Never Had a Dream Come True
If I had to pick a song that was "our" song, I would have to say it was this one. In fact, one time, while I was giving Mindy a ride home while we were broken up, she seemed offended that I still listened to this song. - I Wanna Be With You
Another song we both liked; this song was responsible for our getting back together one time. We went to a movie "as friends"; this was right after my CDs had been stolen, so the only one I had for the moment was the one that was in the player when it happened. It was an "I Love You" collection; we talked most of the ride there, so we didn't have the CD player on or anything. We got into a little argument at one pont, so we turned on the CD player. I had forgotten which CD was in it; as the first notes started up, I laughed - it was something of an ironic situation. But we both started singing, and by the time we got to the theater, she was in my arms, and after we parked, we kissed. - Holler
I gave Mindy Forever for her birthday one year (she eventually gave it back). This was the first song on that CD. - Baby Look at Us
This was one of three songs (this and the next two) that have basically the exact same description: Mindy and I both loved to sing it, and it seemed to fit. You can replace "Mindy" with "Suzie" and the sentence still applies. - I Love You (Donna Lewis version)
- Heaven (Radio Mix)
- Eyes Like Yours
Jessica (at Sonic) really likes Shakira, and one time, while I was hanging out at her house, this song came on - but in Spanish. We never hooked up, of course. - Elephant Love Song Medley
Suzie and I sang this as a duet the second day we were going out. - If You Steal My Sunshine
Suzie *loves* this song, and we had a lot of fun singing it on the way to Galveston. - Another Dumb Blonde
Suzie's favorite song. She asked to borrow a CD with it on it after we broke up so she could practice for a karaoke contest. She never called back, though, so I couldn't give it to her. Rudy and co from work think this was a ploy for her to get me near her again, possibly to hook back up or something (I wouldn't have). Of course, this is the same group that thought that when Heather got naked, she wanted me to peak (whereas Rose, and I agree with this viewpoint, feels that it was just a massive demonstration of trust).
Man, as I was downloading Lemon Tree, I previewed it to make sure it was the right version - there's another song of the same name by Fool's Garden that's completely different - I got it to play in Kazaa. I cried.
