Finally home from an ass-long shift today. I ended up working about 14 1/2 hours - 10 am - 12:30 am.
So, my last substantial post was Tuesday or so. I'll try to go through the week and what happened.
Wednesday: I slept late and missed my first class and part of my second, so that was fun. Came home and did all my homework 'til next Wednesday, which is a very nice feeling. Hung around for a while at the house, then Jerry called. He recently reformatted his computer, but didn't have the modem drivers anywhere else, so he lost those. Obviously, he can't go online to get them, so he was asking me for help on them. I found the appopriate drivers, put them on a disk (zipped), and gave them to him. Later, I picked up Rose who was down here and needed to go back to Austin, and took her to Austin. I hung out there for a while, mainly just talking about stuff; we also played a few games of "<Something> Tower", which is like a cheap version of Jenga (the blocks don't line up square). Rose beat me both (all three?) times, but balance has never been my strong suit. It probably didn't help that I was lying on the couch and was in an awkward positon, though I doubt the result would have been drastically different, if perhaps a little more prolonged. It eventually degenerated into just building towers out of the blocks, then knocking each other's down. Rose built a really cool one; much cooler than either of the ones I did. Wish I would have gotten a picture, but oh well. Things are going okay with her, though her and Katie do plan on moving out when their lease expires (And although they haven't said anything, I have a feeling that means another few days of moving for me as well, not that I mind.)
Left Rose's and came home. Didn't do much else, and went to sleep. Oh, found out a few things on Wednedsay. First, we got the audit, and did fairly well - 96% overall, with no criticals missed. Second, JImmy walked out. I'm ecstatic about the latter. I didn't like him at all, as either a worker or a person (though I rarely disagree about that).
Thursday I worked 12 - 5. *Finally* got paid, and got some money back in my account after paying the first half of tuition (the loan check still hasn't come in). Work was fairly busy, and I was the only cook after 3 (well, Ray was in the kitchen as well, but he was the manager, so I let him go manage while I did all the cooking.) Got everything out in a timely manner, no doubt. Dave called and asked if I'd be willing to work Saturday night instead of Saturday day, and I told him I'd work a double (he needed someone to cover Jimmy's shfit). Went by to get my books Thursday after getting off, but they were closed. Had some internet connection issues Thursday evening and Thursday night.
Woke up early Friday and drove to class for the first time. It's still a decent trek from the parking lot to campus proper. I'm taking chem lab this semester, and they require you to wear pants and toe-covering shoes; I don't have time to change in between Intro to Fine Arts and Lab, so it looks like I'll be wearing pants and shoes all day on Fridays (Argh). I did bring a pair of shorts, though, since I had a few hours before I had to work, which meant I could play some DDR. Anyhoo, I got to the campus bookstore and bought my chem, chem lab, and CS books. Was less than $200, so it wasn't too bad (if I ever get my loan check, that is). I had to lug those two large books around all day, which was fun. I was wearing my light green shirt, which shows each drop of sweat with a pronounced dark area. So of course, I went to play DDR before class; I didn't change into my shorts, and played four (?) games of DDR in pants. It went fairly well, but I did get incredibly sweaty. I then walked across campus, in the intense heat, wearing pants and shoes, carrying all of my books, after playing several games of DDR. I was very, very sweaty. I don't really care what anyone who saw me thinks, as I never have.
Fine Arts class was boring, as always, but I did discover one interesting fact - Elinor Denney is in my class. Not that I'll be talking to her or anything, but it is kinda funny.
Went to chem lab after Fine Arts class; had some issues finding the chemistry building, which is right next to Centennial Hall (I kept ending up in Centennial Hall), but I finally found it. Lab went okay - my goggles kept fogging up, but that'll go down with time. Our lab leader has a strong Indian (?) accent, and can be hard to understand at times. We did a very simple lab today - finding density of an unknown sample by taking mass and volume of 5 different samples of that material and plotting a line of best fit, then taking the slope of that line. A few interesting moments - the girls across from us (we worked in pairs) plotted volume vs mass, not mass vs volume, which meant they got the reciprocal of the density, and had to re-plot their graph. One of the people turning in their paper used two of the points they plotted, not points from the line of best fit, to determine their slopte/density, which negates the entire point of a line of best fit.
Left chem lab fairly early - 1:45 (it's scheduled to 3), and decided to spend the extra time playing DDR (I didn't have to be into work until 7). Played the first game in pants, then changed back into shofts. Oddly enough, I felt kind of naked back in shorts, although they come down past my knees (barely). Passed A - Oni, Across the Nightmare - Heavy, but not Oni, and a few others. While doing A - Oni, there were two girls watching. During the slow intro, I heard one of them telling the other how they played DDR a little, and would do okay on this part. However, that quickly changed when the tempo picked up and had a bunch of 1/8th note runs. They even appluaded a little when I was done. I still don't know how to react to that. I saw both Cullen and Jonathan (from Diversions) while playing.
I don't know if I've mentioend it, but Derrick's girlfriend is actually Lily, On Yee's big sister; On Yee is going to be graduating this semester.
Drove home for the first time, then talked to Freddie. I decided to go buy Star Ocean: 'Til the End of Time, and Freddie decided to tag along - he had to drop off a game at Blockbuster anyway. We dropped it off, and I cancelled my Games Freedom Pass - I'm just going to be too busy during the school year, and have a few games I haven't played through yet (FF X-2, Gladius, Star Ocean: 'Til the End of Time, FF1, FF2, FF IX, etc). Went to Gamestop after that and spent about an hour or so there. I did buy Star Ocean, as well as a battery pack for my GBA - actually, it came with two, each with a life of six hours or so. Which is cool, because I can charge one while using the other.
(Whew!! Scary!! I accidentally hit 'ESC' and deleted the post, but luckily, CTRL+Z brought it back).
Came home and started to play SO3 - however, I kinda feel asleep. Not completely, though, and I could still hear the weird voice acting going on. I recovered from my dazed-out state in time to get to work.
It SUCKED. Friday night was the first Rattler home game, and we were busy all night - did 1600 for dinner, 1700 for close, 6200 for the day (43 - 4500 is normal). Scott didn't finish onion rings until after closing, around 12:30 or so, and we didn't get out of there until 1:30 or so. I gave Javi a ride home, and didn't get home and to sleep until 2 or so.
Woke up at 8, and put my uniform in the washer. Fell back asleep (not planned), and woke up about 10;15 (I was due in at 10). I called in to let them know I'd be in a bit (Javi acted all upset, but was just playing), grabbed my uniform out of the washer (yes, the washer, where it was still all wet), and took off. Wasn't terribly late, and they weren't very busy. The day went by fairly slowly, without too much incident. Lacey was there again, and we joked around a little bit. I really like working with her, and have toyed around with the idea of asking her out. Danielle fountained; she's really cute and fun too. Ashley carhopped as well, and I think I might have actually talked to her this time. Wait, no. Just kidding.
The day shift actually went by fairly fast. 5 o'clock showed up fairly fast, along with the night crew: Freddie (+), Tracy (+), Jenny (+), Johnson (/), Sunny (+), David (-), Katie (++), Lilie (+), and Krysta (-). Lillie is a new girl I haven't worked with before; still haven't really talked to her yet. The night went by okay; we left by 12:30 or so. We did get busy when the game let out, but we handled everything without incident. Rudy even left at one point for about 10 - 20 minutes, with me in charge. Coolness. The shift did seem to take forever, though, but that's mainly because I worked for like FOURTEEN HOURS today, with 7 - C last night, and 9 - 5 tomorrow. Luckily, though, I do have MOnday off, and since it's Labor Day, there aren't any classes. I can sleep and goof off all day and do whatever.
It's funny. There are *so many* cute, nice, sweet girls working at Sonic that I'd love to talk to - Tracy, Lacey, Ashley, Lillie, Katie, Erica, Allison, etc (The last two definitely ahve boyfriends; not sure about the others, although I know Tracy is single, and suspect that Lacey is as well, though Lacey seems the more likely to form a relationship). But I can't. I mean, literally, I can't talk to people at all. It's really frustrating.

Heh. I like how you pour yourself into your writing and it is better entertainment than some of what Hollywood calls movies these days.
As for the shorts vs pants dilemma, have you ever considered one of those weird cargo pants things or whatever they are called... you know, the ones where you can remove the lower half of the pants and hey presto, insto shorts.
