La da de da, You are my hero

Man, blogging is a hard habit to break. Parallel to that, though, is that it's hard habit to get into once it's stopped. Things have kept coming up preventing me from posting other than the occasional link, but I intend to catch everything up, along with two posts that have been chilling in draft form. In fact, I just sent one to the front page, after the two links. It's just a minor recap of Chem class on Wednesday. I'll be building on that as I recap the past week.

Scratch that. I'll just do it topically. That's a little easier.

So, to start it all off:

School

Chemistry
This class is, well, pretty easy so far. It's been fairly basic math, which I can do in my sleep - equation balancing, percentage by mass, that kind of thing. The only thing I'm having issues with is compound naming, but that's just because I missed those days. But I've caught up. I finally realized that the girl that sits on my left (who is in no way stupid; I didn't know what I was writting earlier - I just had an ENORMOUS HEADACHE) is also in my Fine Arts class. We've talked a little. Very little. We discussed a few of the finer points of our Chem class, and she's asked me to look over her stuff twice. Which is good. Still no name or anything, but it is progress. Of a sort. I suppose. The professor is okay, if a bit annoying at times. She's very motherly, and acts like she really cares about us. She certainly makes a lot of effort on our behalf - assigned seating, very responsive to emails, extra credit and lenient grade dropping, that kind of thing. Took a test this morning in Chem. It was fairly easy - I used my TI-83 to store all the compound formulas and names, which made things a lot easier. When I got up to leave, I fell a little off-balance and kind of... crashed into the person two seats down. It was... kind of funny. Or something like that.

Intro to Fine Arts (Music): Not much to say about this class. I certainly haven't talked to anyone in this class, despite (well, not really) the fact that Elinor is in the class. The girl from my chemistry class is also in it, but I haven't talked to her in this one. We've talken one of the tests so far; I got a 93. The first critique was due Monday; didn't do it. I didn't go to class today, either, so that I could finish my probability homework.

Computer Science: This class is... interesting. I've been doing really well on the quizzes, and I'm not worried about the test next week. The programming assignments are... really easy. The latest doozy? Read a text file, counting the number of each letter (ignorning case), then output the results in descending order. Whoo boy. Not only that, but she's basically told us how to do everything, just short of showing us the code. We tried talking about Big O, but she did the worst explanation of Big O I've ever heard. It was horrible. The people in the class that didn't already know what Big O were totally lost. Then, there's this guy that sits next to me... what an idiot. How are you in CS and don't already know what Big O is? Then, he's complaining about not being able to see the results of things immediately. Apparently, at his old school, they had computers on their desks to type stuff up during class. She let him know that they don't have that at SWT, or at UT (I threw that part out). He basically just came off as a big whiner. So this class is fun. I'll be using it to do some Ti-83 programming, or something.

Probability: Another class that I already have a pretty good idea of what's going on. The teacher likes to go off on tangents about the topic of the word problem, which is... annoying, (that's like my fifth ellipse in this post) to say the least. It does allow extra time to screw around, though. I've been doing that a lot. The girl behind me, who's fairly cute and whose picture will be up in the next picture dump (coming soon) is pretty cute, and has just the slightest hint of Southern tang in her voice, and is frequently lost.

Okay, that catches up on school - well, class specific stuff. I have to go to work now (it's actually Thursday morning, 9:40 am), but I'll attempt to review other areas as well - school (general), work, CCGW, etc.
