I feel weird.
I was in a decently good mood yesterday, especially after playing a ton of DDR and taking a nap before heading into work. However, after close, while talking to Kristen, I became very depressed. I was relating to her my current difficulties with talking to new or unknown people at all; she invited me to a party she was going to with her little sister, who works at Fazzoli's - they were having a crew party. I didn't go, precisely because of my aforementioned issue. That got me quite depressed.
Woke up fairly late today, after staying up rather late as well. Kind of just hung around; played a little WC3, just custom games. Did the dishes and got my room cleaned up. A little. I plan on working on it tonight a little more, along with doing my chemistry homework. Anyway, Mom and I left for the demolition derby about 3:30. The drive wasn't *that* long - about an hour and a half; Mom drove, and I read Wedge's Gamble, book two in the X-Wing series. Good stuff.
We got there about 5, but the festivities didn't start until six. We walked around a little; Mom got some beer and a piece of cheese pizza. We sat down; the derby finally started. There were plenty of opening festivities - some singing (including live renditions of "On the Road Again" and "Redneck Woman", which I feel really summed up the spirit of the evening). They did the national anthem (with the 'rocket's great flare'), the pledge, and a fire truck came out with flags on it. They also sprayed down the arena. This happened several times before each heat.
The first heat was the ladies' heat. There were only six. They started off fairly slow, with only minor bumps, but they eventually started really hitting each other. The chick I starting cheering for ended up winning, which was cool. She even suffered a driver side door hit, which is a major foul - the girl who did it got a severe warning, but wasn't thrown out - much to the objection of the people sitting to my right.
We saw the first two men's heats as well. These had 10 cards, and ended when 5 had been eliminated. Mitch was in the second one, but he got knocked out. It was fairly impressive. Apparently, they mainly hit cars by going backwards, because if they hit head-on, they'd hurt their own engine, which isn't good. We left after that heat to go get some food; they didn't have any more cheese pizza, but I did get a sausage wrap. It was pretty tasty.
When we got back, though, there was a crowd between us and our seats. I let Mom go back to them, and retreated to the fence behind the bleachers - my social anxiety has reached the point where I'm afraid to tap someone on the shoulder and say 'excuse me' to get past. Or something like that - it might be something else, I don't know. We left fairly soon after that. I took a nap for most of the way home. I drove to work and got my schedule for next week - Tue/Thu/Sun day, Fri/Sat night, and talked to Freddie and Rudy. Today (Saturday) is Freddie's birthday - poor guy, it's an unforunate date to be born on.
I have some pictures from the demolition derby; unfortunately, they're all from before the actual derby started; my battery was low because I didn't charge it after use on Friday. I did get some pictures as we were walking around, which I'll post at some point - it's in Mom's purse at the moment.
We're playing D&D Monday night, and I have to do my first critique for Fine Arts by next Monday, the 20th. I also have my first test - again, Fine Arts - Wednesday. Other than that, not much going on this week.
