Arby's Rocks!!

So we went and played D&D last night. It went alright, kinda weird. The party's starting to piece together various campaign arcs, and listening to their various theories as they learn new information is interesting. But the highlight of the evening? While waiting for Jarrod, we went to Arby's to get something to eat. The girl standing at the counter was *so cute*!! Dude, oh my god.

She had this long red hair that was in a ponytail, freckles across her face, gorgeous eyes that were fairly big with a beautiful expression, an awesome voice, the whole package. She was about... 5'6"? I'm not very good at guessing height. I didn't talk to her or anything, and we left. The guys, Michael especially, and Matt to a lesser degree, were giving me an incessant hard time about not talking to her. But seriously - I'm just a customer at her store. The *last* thing she wants is for a customer to come and talk to her - I've worked at Sonic for almost four years, and I've talked to the carhops about this kind of thing. There's no way to pull it off successfully, unless you're really hot (which I'm not) and the girl is interested (which she isn't).

Ended up winning that game of B5 with Bruce yesterday. That was pretty cool. Work time.

Status report

I like to give my entries weird titles, but if nothing comes to mind, I don't mind sticking with something fairly dry that accurately describes the content or object of the post.

I haven't been up to too much since my last post. I'll work backwards from now. I'm currently playing B5 with Bruce. It's his new Valen ranger deck against my Minbari Vorlon Diplomacy. I'm definitely winning - the score is something like 13 (me) to 14 (him), but I'm holding a Support of the Mighty and about to win an Affirmation of Power for two points. I really like a lot of the new Vorlon cards. I had a blast playing that game earlier with stormcloak and azuredarkness. It was weird - for most of the game, I completely dominated in all four stats, though once stormcloak started drawing fleets, he had military. But diplomacy and intrigue, even the Minbari? No way.

Picked Freddie up from Austin last night, where he'd been since Thursday with Laurin. Lucky bastard. Also picked up this *huge* table thing from Mike's, except it's too big, so I have to take it back. That sucks. It was cool, though, 'cause I lifted it up and carried it up to the house by myself. I guess I'm still fairly strong.

School's been going okay, but I definitely have to review my calculus, hardcore. I've forgotten a lot of major things - Taylor Series, Radius of Convergence, etc. Got my Linux account today, and apparently I can do everything remotely, so that's good. That was one of my main concerns. Chem I looks like it's going to be a joke. Katie and Rose are totally down for helping me out with my Intro to Fine Arts stuff, so it looks like it's going to be a fun semester.

Work's... well, work. We've hired like five new carhops in the last week or so - Lacey, Kristen, Laurie, Ashley, and Elizabeth. Lacey is pretty cool - real sarcastic and talkative, but a decent carhop from what I've seen. She was a bartender back in Houston, but isn't one here because she's, "Not a size 2 like all the ones around here are" (her words). She's 20, so not too young or anything. We'll see how that goes. Laurie acts, talks, and just basically reminds everyone of Leah, which isn't a good thing. Kristen is a great carhop and knows how to fountain already, but is still kind of shy, except around the Sayes. I haven't met Ashley or Elizabeth yet, so I can't say anything about them. It was weird - I fountained with Sunny Sunday, and I really, really noticed her breasts for the first time, despite how Freddie's always been very pro-them.

I'm running a game tonight, in about ten minutes. Dragon's Lair opened a branch in town, in the butterfly shopping center. We'll see how they do.

B5 game: jackalope, azuredarkness, Stormcloak

jackalope

azuredarkness

Stormcloak

Unfortunately, there was an error with my screenshot of Stormcloak's area. He had Ta'lon as his ambassador, and Na'Toth (Variant) in the IC; several smaller characters in the supporting row, Build Infrastructure, Establish Base, and a large number of fleets - 6?

Early game:
jackalope: Nug/Ulg, Crusade: Corporate
Stormcloak: Ambassador Ta'Lon, no Crusade
azuredarkness: Delenn (TF), Crusade: Crusade (I think - he forgot his Crusade card)

Storm did a fairly standard BI + Ko'Dath to get her promoted quicky while building, and threw in a Rapid Growth as well. azure sponsored and promoted Lennier (V) (who is used almost exclusively over Lennier, for obvious reasons), and threw in a Trade Pact for good measure (not sure if it was SH or a good draw). I dropped Diversity and Miziri, then double built to 8, at which point I dropped Diversity for Fulcrum of Power.

There was one scary moment where Azure had an issue with the engine, then it froze, but after a few seconds, everything returned to normal, and we were able to finish the game (saddeningly, a rarity with B5 engine play of extended length).

Two Legacy of Powers were played, and both were killed - one with Aldus, the other with Death Walker. I played a Rally the People with a lot of potential support, but it got YANR'ed. Which got NMtB'ed. Which, in turn, got NMtB'ed.

Dureena Nafeel made an appearance and got to use her mad thieving skills when someone played Short Term Goals.

The game did drag for a bit, but I eventually won by dropping Safety in Numbers for 4 power (I had 11 or 12 IC characters at this point), with 17 influence.

My Knee Hurts

I'm tired. Well, not really, except that my legs are a little tired.

Started school on Wednesday. That was fun. I walked to class - it's somewhere between forty and sixty minutes from here to my first class at 10 am. I took my SV/AV 20 with a double handful of mp3s on it. I plan on doing this at least semi-regularly. It's cool 'cause I can change the songs on my thing fairly quickly and easily (in theory at least; see below). I might post some playlists on another page. So I got to class without incident; didn't even have any trouble finding the place.

My first class is Chem I, in a big lecture hall type thing. Fun. The teacher seems kind of motherly, with no life. I don't anticipate any major trouble in that class. I saw Dustin Bray in there, and said 'hey'. I also saw some other guy - I don't remember his name; he was one of my trombones. No one else, though, and didn't meet anybody. The seats were very comfortable, which means either they're bigger than UT, or my ass is smaller. As I was leaving, I saw Nicky. She was looking for her class, which was in this building, but the room number was listed as "ARR". Neither of us had any clue what that meant, and I could only hang around for a little bit before I had to leave for my next class - Intro to Fine Arts.

Intro to Fine Arts will be a crappy class. I hate 'fine arts'. I did play trombone for like 7 years, but that's about it. I don't care for 'art' - painted pictures and sculptures and what-not, and classical music is cool, but not something I like to analyze. I have to attend 4 art things, and luckily, I have a secret weapon - Katie and Rose. That'll be fun. Speaking of Katie, I ran into her dad, who apparently works in the music department, as I was leaving. How odd. We talked for a bit, mainly about the girls.

Had half an hour between FA and my next class, C/C++, so I decided to go over to the Lair and squeeze in a game of DDR. They moved it out of the hallway, back downstairs right outside of the Lair (which they totally redid). Derrick was there, and he and some other guy each did one more song in a nonstop course. I went up and did a few songs - Rythym & Police, My Summer Love, and Max 300 (failed). I had to leave pretty quickly for my next class, which I was late to anyway.

That class, C/C++, seems okay. I have to learn C++, but that seems the core focus of the class. I already understand command structures, logic branches, and several types of data structures, so I should be fine. I have to learn some Linux as well, so that'll be cool - I've been meaning to learn that anyway. Left there and went to my next class, Prob & Stat, in the same building. The teacher there is a little... absentminded. And has an... interesting teaching style.

With classes done and no work that day, I got another game of DDR in. Singles - Rythym & Police, A - Oni Mix, and something else. Then I walked home. I was pretty tired after all that walking, so I kinda took a nap.

Found out that Dragon's Lair is opening a shop here by Zookyas, so Michael and I went and checked it out. They're not officially open yet, though they're setting up. Didn't do much else Wednesday, except got the 12th ending on Chrono Trigger and unlocked everything. So that's good.

Worked today 12 - 5; Dave was an ass, as usual. Not much else happened, although the steamer that Darron fixed is working great now, and he might fix the fryer pump tomorrow. That'd be fairly cool. Scott and Pedro were the five o'clock cooks, so I wasn't out of there until six or so. Got home and talked to Fred, and eventually drove over there to take him up to Laurin's for the weekend. Lucky bastard. I fell while carrying his TV (he brought two bags and his TV, 'cause Laurin doesn't have one). Didn't break it though, 'cause I'm awesome. Went and saw Katie and Rose. I gotta go, so I may post more later.

I rarely blog links. But this is one of the coolest, in theory, registry tweaks I've ever seen. We'll see how much I use it, but it looks really, really cool.

I do some strange things sometimes

So it looks like I'm not going to be taking Discrete I this semester, which isn't that big of a deal. It is, but I'll live. Looks I won't be starting class 'til 10, which is a decent upside. I'm thinking about walking to (and from) class, which will be good for a couple reasons. I won't have to worry about finding a parking space, and it'll definitely be good exercise and put me out in the sun some more. Campus isn't *that* far from where I live, so it won't take that long. The only problem would be if I have to get to work quickly, but I can of course just take my truck on those days, if necessary.

Work sucked today. 12 - 7 is actually a nice shift, but i had to cook with Dennis Leech. Don't care for him at all. He's kind of annoying - and several of the other people there (Allison, Tracy, Freddie) all asked me about having to work with him. It's nice to have other people agreeing with me about someone being annoying now, instead of two months later.

Cooked for two hours with Freddie, which is cool, because him and I get along real well and our work reflects that. I wouldn't mind cooking nights more often, except I have to deal with the new guys more.

School starts tomorrow. I don't have my books yet, and won't until I get paid or my loan comes in. I'd much prefer to have them now, but that's just not in the cards at the moment. I'm basically ready other than that, I just have to put everything together. I'll do that sometime tonight.

Oh, and had the following conversation with Heather:

Billy: Congrats on the new job.
Billy: So I was wondering if sometime when we're both not busy (which is going to be less and less likely, I know) if you'd like to get together sometime and maybe...
Billy: make out?
Heather: what?
Heather: uh.. not really
Heather: kinda just want friends
Heather: kinda just want friends
Billy: Damn.
Billy: Fair enough.

Why? Don't know. I've always really, really wanted to kiss her. Her lips were really shiny when we went and saw Bourne Supremacy. Then there was the time we went canoing (canoeing?), and she GOT NAKED RIGHT BEHIND ME. (Or changed her clothes, which doesn't necessarily mean competely naked, but pretty damn close). I understand it's a trust thing - she trusted me enough not to 'sneak a peek' or something like that. Not that I would - don't misunderstand me. I'm not a subtle person, nor do I act on things I think might be subtle hints, because I'm often wrong, and even when I'm not, the risk, while possibly worth it, isn't one I want to take. I think I might have trailed off a little bit. Let me try again. I'm not a subtle person, nor do I pick up on or offer subtle hints. I have no doubt that that 'attribute' is one that will hinder me in life, especially in relations with the fairer sex.

I don't know where all that came from. In fact, I'm not quite sure what I've been trying to say this whole post (after the bookkeeping details, of course). Something about how non-reciprocal affection, and how much it sucks. And closure. I don't know. Maybe we had a chance for a good, close, platonic relationship. Which is cool, don't get me wrong. And I'm not stupid. Things wouldn't ever have worked out between us.

Hell, I don't even know what I'm trying to say anymore. You're on your own.

I spend all that time making my schedule so nice and neat, and then they go and do this to me

Originally, I registered for 16 hours - 6 math, 3 fine arts, 3 cs, and 4 chem. My schedule was pretty cool, so that I only had to go Mon/Wed/Fri, and I started all three days at 9, but on Mon/Wed, I was done by 3:15, but on Fri, I was done at 2:50. Not too shabby.

Then this morning I get an email from SWT stating that my Discrete I class has been dropped due to low enrollment. That's just frustrating. It doesn't look like I'll be able to take another section of the class instead - spent about half an hour playing around with that - so I'm just going to have to drop it. Back when I first did my schedule, I know there's nothing else I'm eligible to take that I need/want to. I guess that's another change from UT to SWT - they never had this issue, at least not while I was there. Or rather, at least not in any of my classes, which is really all that matters. I'm not sure about my graduation date - it will depend partly on how many classes and which ones I'm able to take this summer, but it's looking like it might be next Spring ('06). That would suck. I mean, I know it's my fault, and I should have, or be just about ready to, graduated by now, but I screwed up royally, and now I'm facing the consequences of my actions. Which is something I've always been fairly good at - accepting responsibility for what I do. Mom might not be too happy, but she'll live, esepcially if I start paying rent, which will probably happen in the Summer or next Fall. That, or move out, but I'm in no hurry to do that. The scary thing is, I have very little trouble seeing myself still living here in five years, especially if I'm unable to get a better degree-based job. I don't mind moving, even out of state, to do so, though, although I don't know how much that helps.

I have to go to work in like twenty minutes; I'd like to get the dishes done first, but I'm not sure if this registration change is going to go through. They're still having some issues due to the storm Sunday. Oh yeah - the power went out at work (and all over town) Sunday around 5:20. That was... interesting. The grill's smoke wasn't going into the vents anymore, so we had to prop open the back door; after about thirty minutes, Ray had them start closing. I need to talk to him today to find out how it went - when we drove by there at midnight on our way to Whataburger, his car was still there, so it looks like they opened back up, or something. I think I'm supposed to have done some stuff in my assistant book by today, but I'm going to play that off and say that I have to leave soon, due to a prior engagement.

I'm feeling a little burnt out on D&D again. I think it's just a combination of a few things - I'm not sure where to take the party next, and I have a very busy semester coming up - work and school full time (although that's one less class I have to take, and class won't start for me 'til 10 now, so I guess there's a small silver lining on this cloud, if not one I'm terribly happy to see). I don't want to play in Matt's Warcraft game, nor in Luke's alternate campaign. I just don't know what I want in that arena. Well, time to do the dishes and get ready for work.

Oh, real quick - Luke's reaction to the altered photo with Nadine was hilarious.

Despite occasional good things, it's been a bad day

Went by work and got the schedule for next week. I've got Tuesday day, Thursday day, Friday night, and Saturday morning. Four shifts. I picked up Freddie's shift Monday night, and will probably pick something up Sunday as well. I donn't want to, but it'll be better.

Came home, and found that Heather had both IM'ed and called me, suggesting that since we're both bored, why not go see the Bourne Supremacy? I finally got her attention via IM and we made plans - I would drive down there, then she'd drive us to the theater. I didn't get there 'til 9:48, when the slated start time for the movie was 9:45. She called while I was en route, and it turned into she would meet me down there. So that happened. She looked pretty cute - tshirt, ponytail, the whole bit. Had really shiny lips - later said she was wearing chapstick.

We got to the theater without incident (other than Heather not knowing exactly where it is, and having to make a few, um, 'course corrections'), and only missed a little of the movie. While in line, I spotted a DDR machine in the lobby, but Heather was quick to assert that I couldn't play, and I agreed. For now, at least.

The movie was okay. I haven't seen the Bourne Identity, so some of the stuff didn't make a ton of sense, but I followed things decently.

I drove her home, and she got out and went upstairs while I drove home. Fun stuff.

The whole thing was kind of weird. I mean, situations with me tend to be awkward, and I'm finally accepting that it's because I'm an awkward person. I did used to have a major crush on her. We were fairly close at one point. Not like really close or anything, but close relatively for me and a female. I remember the canoing day very well, and the ice skating day was a lot of fun as well. But I'm not stupid. Misguided, but not stupid.

Stopped at the Ben White IHOP on the way home and saw Rose while she was on her break. She needed a hug (as did I), and I was only too glad to render that service. Things aren't really going too well for her right now, but she's doing alright. I really do love that girl.

Lavos is a Pussy

I mean, seriously. When I played through the game the first time, I didn't power up to obscene levels or anything. In fact, I didn't stop to power up but twice - before facing Azala/Black Tyrano, and before fighting the Golem Twins (though I had a bad party for that fight as well). I did complete all the side quests at the end, 'cause they're cool. No problem defeating Lavos what so ever.

Then I started a New Game+ and decided to try to get all the endings on my second play-through. The hardest one to get is the initial ending, where it's just Crono and Marle. Didn't have a problem at all.

I've read some stuff at Gamefaqs and the strategy guide, and I use a different plan for the final battle with Lavos. I first take out the left Lavos bit using Confuse (which kills him), then take out the left bit. Killing both bits kills the final form as well. For some reason, people take out the left bit, then the creature, then the right bit. Odd. For example, I just got the 'Good Night' ending, and I used Robo, Marle, and Crono. Marle hasted everyone and used Shield on herself; Robo kept everyone healed and used Barrier on himself, and Crono just wailed on the bits. Robo used Robo Tackle when he wasn't healing, and Marle even started attacking with the Valkaryie (which the extra data supports as her ultimate weapon). The final form got off.... three attacks? He revived the left bit three times; used Song once; used Dreamless (or is it called Grand Dream? I forgot. The ultimate magic attack) once; used Invading light once. Time Warped a few times, but that was it.

Wuss.

My feet hurt

So yeah, had a 14 hour split today. The second half went... okay, I s'pose. Admittedly, Johnson is a better fountain than I thought. Not great, but good. Danielle's an excellent carhop, and Katie was there too. I don't like her anymore, but she's SO DAMN CUTE. The new girl Lacey is doing alright as well; she reminds me ever so slightly of Tracy, which is definitely a good thing.

Have the day off tomorrow; not sure what I'm going to do. I need to get some new shoes. Mine have giant holes in them along the sides, and my feet get all wet, and it's gross. I also need to fix mom's computer, or at the very least, re-format it.

But I really just want to be held.

2004-08-20

Well that was Fun

So I was up 'til about 6 o'clock this morning, since I didn't have to be in to work until 5 tonight.

That plan didn't work. I got woken up at 8 this morning by Rick telling me I was supposed to be in at eight. I thought surely he was mistaken, but it's not like it's Mark or something. So I went up there, and sure enough, I've got a 14 hour split today, 8 - 2; 5 - C. I've already done the 8 - 2 (8:45), and my uniform's in the washer right now. I still haven't fixed mom's computer; I planned on doing it today, but didn't account for the extra six hours I have to work. Mark was being an ass too. He tries to manage, but he has no idea how, so he just spurts out random commands that end up being just complete bullshit.

Plus, tonight's not gonna be any better. It's just me and Johnson fountaining, with no great carhops or cooks to speak of. Today, our carhops were Tracy, Erin, Allison, and Kristen, with Erica (who looks really cute in her new blue shirt) around as necessary.

It's gonna be a long, long shift.

New Site Feature: Links

The Link link on the sidebar works now. It's being slowly updated as I import my links and catergorize them. I've got a double handful up now, and I'll be bringing the rest up soon enough.

Work today was okay. Kristen's back, and she's hyper and loud as ever. I had to fountain with Krista, and I'm fountaining with Johnson tomorrow. That sucks. She fell carrying the ice bucket around 8:15 or so, so we got her out of there by 9. It was fairly busy, so I couldn't get anything down after that (nor before that, since she was the other fountain). She's really stupid - she doesn't listen, and she doesn't learn at all. A new girl started tonight - Lacey. She seems cool enough. No attitude, listened to everything Kristen and I told her. Freddie got real upset or sad or something 'bout 9:30 or so, and wouldn't talk to me at all. I still don't know what's up with him. I know he misses Laurin a lot, but I don't know if it was that or something specific that set him off.

Massive picture dump: D&D, Lunch/Movie with David and Barbara/Nicky, and DDR that night, followed by crashing with Rose

We had a short session Tuesday night. There's the party as the travel through the wilderness. They rented a private dining room in the inn and began discussing their plans. However, Nadine (who somehow got the highest listen check) heard something outside the door, and Lorm found one of the serving girls listening at the door. They took issue with this, so Davin and Ky'Rinn went to talk to the bartender (played by an air elemental).
Three humans had issue with their taking issue with the bartender, though. And a fight ensued. Three dwarves rushed Ky'Rinn as well.
Here, they dogpiled Zhao Fei as he pinned one of the humans.Zhao Xi charmed the bartender and one of the humans and ended it.
I decided to start taking a lot more pictures with my SV/AV. I've got free photo hosting at Blogger, and there's no incremental cost with digital photography. This is the car in front of me at Sessoms and N. LBJ on my way to Mamacita's.And my registration and inspection stickers. Note how they're aligned horizontally instead of vertically. I like to be different.

My chicken fajitas. I took a big bite of the gigantic jalepano that they served with my meal (that no one ever touches).David's beef fajitas.
Barbara couldn't leave work at work and was on the phone for like ten minutes about some meeting and some guy named 'Chad'.

Edit: Apparently, she was talking to Kristina. And they were talking about someone not named 'Chad'.
